I think you meant hydra-pod.

I have a hydra-pod they work good. Pretty much set it and forget it.

it is a good system, but over priced imo . if you stay with this hobby you will probably want a larger grow chamber . so you save a lot of money building your own setup, and have more fun too .

it seems to me that most people move away from cakes into something better. if you plan to do cakes forever maybe the pod is worth it. but people get results just as good with a lot less money.

For cakes, probably. I bought one for my first grow. Pretty much idiot proof once you master substrate/innoculation. I have the old one that only fits 5 cakes max. Advantage: 1) for a healthy cake you are guaranteed some shrooms of medium to large size. 2) Set it and forget it. (other than adding water every couple of weeks and giving light cycle.) Disadvantage: 1) Price. 2) You can get more, and larger shrooms casing.
What I use mine for now is I split my cakes. Put some into the pod and I will have more spores to work with guaranteed even if my casing get contaminated.

Search for lvleph's Pod Tech on the shroomery. I put this up a few weeks back. The pod is not worth buying since it is so completely easy to make your own for a 1/4 of the price. Search for this string that I made and you will be glad that you didn't buy one. Also you may wnat to search for my MT Tek.

you can make your own enormous "hydra-pod" for 55 bucks + the price for shelves, and have enough room for more than 10 casings.
go to http://www.bluelight.com/ and look up the "Martha Stewart Stationary Storage Closet" - that will run you $25
then go to http://www.drugstore.com/ and buy a Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier for $20.
if you're lazy just stick the humidifier in the storage closet and turn it on - Voila! instant hydra pod.

great idea harry. Since its hard to find greenhouses at local walmarts anymore, that stationary closet would serve its purpose well

With the humidifier you need a timer or turn it on by hand every so often. If you leave it on it will produce a lot of water in the bottom of your terrerium. You can get a timer at walmart for about $10.
