Poor? MOVE!

I think the main reason many Americans are poor is because the live in a bad area. I know people have ties and don't want to move away from thier freinds and family, but some places are just harder for the low earners to live; particularly big cities.
You can live quite comfortably around here for $20,000 a year. Minnimum wage is about $6.15 I think, whatever the national Minimum is. That comes out to about $12,000 a year. I wouldn't want to try to live on that without roommates though. A 3 bedroom house usually runs as low as $400-$600 a month rent.
A 100,000 house is pretty nice, and you can find livable trailers with land for $20,000.

Dang, I'm moving to lapland.
Besides a bad area, a lot of poverty has to do with education. I mean, have you seen some of the things people buy with food stamps? They eat better than I do. Just last month I was in a 7-11 and there was a girl with a baby buying groceries. Groceries! I'd say if people don't know better than to do their grocery shopping at 7-11, they probably have a pretty secure spot in the poverty cycle.

Actually, the largest employer in America, BY FAR, is the federal government.

Yeah, I've seen them buying name brand groceries with a second cart full of kids each nine months apart, while my hands are loaded with coupons and what I don't have coupons for consists of generic items. But then, according to penis, uh, I mean Dick Gephardt I'm one of the winners of life's lottery so I should be happy that I'm fortunate enough that I'm forced to support a family (not my own) of illiterate breeders, while worrying about making ends meet to feed my two children (we stopped at two, because we couldn't afford more).

We may not agree entirely on the topic of welfare, but I do agree that as it stands it sucks.
What's so terrible about sterilization programs?

Nothing if they're voluntary.

My opinions:
People should be paid $5000 to get sterilized.
If a woman has another kid while on welfare, she should be sterilized.

Where I grew up in Minnesota you could live comfortably on $9 an hour. I had friends in high school who had apartments and most everyone I knew got their own places just after graduation...
Today the cost of living is a bit higher but so is minimum wage... You can still get by with a nice apartment and good car on $9 but its not a matter of just getting by for us Americans... Without the strive for something better we have nothing.
