Cool video, I had never seen it. I have read about his studies of F. officinalis before in Myclelium Running, among other sources.

Just got that book in two days ago and cant put it down....except to get on the shroomery haha

F officinalis isn't rare, unless one is only looking on Douglas fir trees. It predominates on hardwoods such as Western larch. It also isn't limited to old growth forest. Most of the ones I've found are in second growth. I've mapped at least 100 within 20 miles of our cabin. RR

I'm glad it was you, RR, who said it. I've always wondered why Stamets always claimed it was so rare. He sometimes speaks as though it's nearly extinct.

I suppose it makes the cultures worth more. They're not rare at all, and considered a 'weed fungus' in Canada. You sure don't need a boat to ride up and down the coast. You need some arborist gear and good boots. RR
