pasteurise poop in ziplock???
    #1242318 - 01/23/03 09:40 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I got store baught manure with hummus, now the water content is alreay good as is, so i was wondering if i could maybe fill a plastic bag/ziplock/garbage.... with poop, submerge in water and bring it up to 170 for a few hours... woul this do the job..

or do i need to do the pillow case and soak, then drain and squeeze thing???

pros and cons pls.!!

best idea you've come up with , but leave some room in the bag for expantion .
if you use ziplock i would renforce the zipper with duct tape, maybe even double bag it .
i dont think much of the store bought shit though .

so finally, someon ansers.. thanks.

yeah,, i could get the fresh shit, but winter up here, and 4 feet of snow, so it's snow covered poop hills, arghhhhh.

store baught will have do to until spring!

I have not tested this yet, but i figured that the poop would turn to mud if submerged in water?!!!

ps: and it's a good way to keep the smell down in the house!!!

yes, give it a shot, it sounds interesting, particularly for the smell-reduction potential

Perhaps those foodsaver vacuum food bags would work well. Less worry about the bag stretching while cooking. You could even double bag it, to make sure the seams don't bust. The bags can be used to heat food in boiling water, so they would work fine at 170 degrees.

I don't have a vacum sealer thing.. but i'm sure that heavy duty ziplock, doubled up (* the freezer kind are very thick and will hold up.!! )

would it be benefitial to keep all the juices of the manure, instead of washing them away in a water bath? i wonder?
