So here is one of your photos of your grow, which you posted in another thread. You say these are Psilocybe ovoideocystidiata.

My question is, did you case these with perlite??

The cultivated mushrooms in your pics are Cubensis without a doubt. And you do have pictures of outdoor Ovoids. So whose to say you couldn't send out an ovoid print instead of the cultivated print. Even in these pics you have 2 different mushrooms. Cultivated and Wild.
Can you take a good quality picture of the cap and spore prints together of the cultivated and the outdoor ones side by side. I would bet the cultivated mushrooms have a dark purple print and the outdoors would be more brownish purple. And any TI in the hunting forum would probably agree. Post the pics and ask for an ID.

I can assure you that your cultivated specimens are Psilocybe cubensis without examining the microscopic features, I'm sorry your experiment went wrong, maybe you will have better luck in the future. P. ovoideocystidiata is a woodlover that requires a long season to build up enough metabolites before fructification will occur, it will take a year or longer after inoculating wood chips before this species will fruit!

Yes, patience is required for these wood lovers, many people say that the fruiting trigger for P. subaeruginascens is a mystery but I'm certain that it all comes down to patience and letting the mycelium consume enough of the wood, time will tell

Why do I get the feeling that there's a ton of pictures that you're holding out on us. Definitely show us the caps and prints next to each other, should resolve this pretty quickly.

Regardless, that print looks purple/black to me. It's impossible to tell though, even if you were a trusted identifier.

Yea, that's what I'm excited for, the indoors pictures. What time of year did you discover them and in what part of the country?
They are bound to change morphology when domesticated, but to the point where they look identical to another mushroom species? I don't know about that one.
You mentioned sending some samples/pictures to some experts. Did you do that yet? You should if you want an honest opinion.
