Snails & Mushrooms?

I saw a post here the other day it had an old christian church which had pictures of amanitas and snails.

Is there any other info floating round on this?

I think its quite cool as in the morning sunlight you can follow the shining snail trail to the fresh new mushrooms :smile:

Whenever ive seen snails before i always wondered what theyre eyes see, they got tenticle like eyes that stretch out, i also have felt bad whenever ive stepped on one, theyre so slow thy can hardly move!

If you're referring to my post on the above page, the original article by Franco Fabbro seems not to be available on the web, and there seems to be no additional scholarship on the matter.
It may well have been an early syncretism of Christian religious ritual and the famous A. muscaria.

numerous representations of amanita muscaria (often said to be the real adam's apple) sometimes alongside representations of snails that appear to be of the type Helix (Helix) Cincta, associated with religious ceremonies (where the participants were said to have ingested certain things before having a connection with god)



but while searching some more, I actually found a very nice thread about it here.

but still nothing about the ingestion of helix cincta today, real strange....

i wonder how the shroom could have been the apple? it does not seem to make clear any rights or wrongs particularly with regards to wearing clothes
