How are you planning to force flower? Is papaver photosensitive or something?

well I thought by setting it to the light cycle that makes it flower it might bloom early
oh well thats ok I can always kill a baby or 2
thats one of the only times I can say that and its not weird

it works that way with most plants, but i believe poppies need to reach a certain age before they can produce flowers.

interesting. i have never tried it myself. i do remember talking with a reliable source about flowering poppies, and he said something about it having to do with age as well, but you never know untill you try i suppose. im glad your experiment went well.

Poppies can be forced to flower at any time... this once time, I had my fluos 18/6, and this little sprout that I hadn't noticed, got a tiny bud out.... the flower was nearly invisible, I guessed it was there, and I after found a pod (or called so ) the size of a pin head... funny experience..

Yes, I suppose it is possible to force flower. Alot of plants will flower if they think they're gonna die soon, so they can produce seeds, therefore stress on a plant can cause it to flower - changing any variables or the enviroment it is grown in may stress a plant. It has also been theorized that when one bud opens, it releases something into the air that tells the other buds to open/ plants to flower, though how true this really is I don't know - it was on poppies.org a long time ago, when a very small poppy flowered when it was in a room with mature flowering poppies. But the point is, poppies don't flower due to light cycles (*see below), they flower based on age and/or maturity. Some may just randomly flower possibly due to genetic mutations. *of course if you reduced the light period by a significient amount, it may well flower, thinking it's gonna die, but the pod may be small, and opium production may be small.

yes, they were about 4 inches tall...
they were pretty fucking cool, didn't yield anything and i didn't even check to see if they formed seeds. I just kinda looked at them for a while, then went inside.
