Floppy Poppies :(
    #12410724 - 04/17/10 07:06 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

:feelsbadman:

So my garden is being overrun with what looked like clover, but now I dont know. They end up being about 2in high whatever it is, some kinda weed or grass :/. However, that can be easily fixed with an hour of squatting and plucking, my real problem is....

Although my poppies are growing, some more than 2+in wide when you stretch the leaves out, they are limp and flaccid. Are you supposed to stake them up? they just kinda flop on the ground and don't stand up straight, even if their growin.

Never heard of having to, and ive seen full grown plants without stakes that were just fine... what gives?

That's normal. The root system is weak at this stage so it falls over. Soon it will start to thicken its taproot and grow upright again, don't worry about it.
