God, Life, and the essense of Mushrooming..
    #1240475 - 01/22/03 05:33 PM (14 years, 5 months ago)

Howdy all!

I'm a bit new to this forum, so if I say something I'm not supposed to, please forgive me. I come here a very humble person.

I've read, for the last couple of months, as much as I could about mushrooms. I know that the early indians/aztecs used mushrooms as part of their spirital ritual.

My experince, with my wife, has been that mushrooms have brought us closer together. I know alot of you are going to think this wierd--we're in a our late 30's, conservative type people, love music, attend church everyweek, and hold professional jobs. But, when we do mushrooms--it's like everything doesn't matter. We commune in a way we've never done before. We laugh, we cry, we seek out our inner thoughts to each other. We can commune and understand what God has planned for us--and we are able to listen to him a lot better. To us--it is spiritial.

I haven't found it in my methodist handbook yet, but I'm hpoing one day it'll be part of the service each Sunday!

This weekend we tried something differant. We mixed some koolaid grape juice with our mushrooms--and put 5 grams each in the cool aid. We put it in the blender--and it was actually pretty good. We both hate the taste of mushrooms--and can even start gaging when we think of having to eat them. But this made it taste ok!

But the trip--HOLY SHIT!
It was SO intense--nothing like before. Granted, we usually do 2-3 grams each, but this really rocked our boat!!
Usually, we sit back, watch a DVD, with candles all around. And usually, we end up stopping the movie for an hour or two to just chat--talk, hold each other. Usually, we think about how we could have been better Christens this week--what we did that we would be proud of--and how we can do better to each other--and to others. This trip was mind blowing--and really was fun for me. My wife said it was too intense for her though.

Anyway, I truly believe people can commune with God when doing Mushrooms. I've experinced it--my wife has, too.
And believe it or not--mushrooms make us better people.
At least, my humble opinion.

Anyway--thought I'd share. Help yourself to add anything--or simply tell me I'm wrong.

It is great to know that people within the system are opening their minds to the possibilities that lay within us... It will make it that much easier for the world to change.

Wow! Congratulations and good luck. 5 grams'll do you real good, that's for sure. I'm curious, how did you and your wife first turn on to mushrooms in the first place? It certainly isn't canonical Methodist practice by any means, although the Mazatec Indians do believe the mushrooms to have come from Jesus Himself.

people can commune with anything on mushrooms given that they want too
(or even at times not wanting to or fear of a thing causes this)

im sure a satanist would "commune" with satan.
a buddhist would "commune" with buddha.
and a christian would "commune" with god.
and an athiest would commune with finds its way into his mind at the moment.
not having any direct achievement possibilites he could also commune with choas.

the way i invision this communion with entitys on mushrooms, is through the neverending possibilites of the elastic infinity.

say there was such a thing as plastic wrap spread across your mind.
what your mind projects into it would create the image of what you want to see or hear.
now say you were to not project anything onto this elastic by ceasing the mind to be/ by inner silence.  what would it then be?
to me, its totality of energy, totality of infinite spectrums incased in a fractal cascade.  some would say, the all in all. and others would say, it is "god".

i do not mean to detere you from your religion.
i think christianity is wonderful,  as long as one follows it properly.
i do not beleive those people who call themselfs christians and then act out against it know the harm they themselfs cause to.. themselfs.
my personal opinion of the bible is that its a great parable of parables..
its the inner workings of our body/mind/soul written out in a story, through storys.
the god, the devil,  the angels, the deamons,    all incased inside of humanity.
wiether you choose heaven or hell. is really up to you, and the stories in the bible help you through those choices with things relative to the christian mind.
but to be able to see through the choactic mindfullness of religions promisses and rituals, to gaze apon an infinite godly abstract without the words of the mind, or the words of the bible. is truly awe inspiring.

i personaly find christianity outcomes based too far in "the future"
the mind is constantly in the future, what will happen after death.
i understand the focus on the "now" will bring about rewards after death"
but still too much emphasis on the future for the mind to be truly religious.

also to me, nothing is half and half.  either totality is completly evil, or completely holy.

everything is holy to me, even the things that kill and the things that heal.

you cannot say a desease is both evil, and holy.  it will kill a thief...  or it will kill a priest the same. it cares not what form your mind takes into the abyss.

you cannot say a medicine is both evil, and holy. it cares not who takes it,  it will heal a satanist and a christian the same.

the rest is up to what you put yourself through.

i guess this is where i stop rambling.

That's awesome!!! Mention your proposal to your pastor. LOL, it may turn out badly, but you would have tried to change the church. In most cases mushrooms do change perceptions for the better.

Good to know you can see the spiritual benefits of mushrooms.

If you ever get a chance, take 5 grams by yourself in a dark room. Just a suggestion, but I find it brings more of a deeper connection with god and your inner self than you watching a movie.

My wife and I aren't as goody two shoes as you might believe. We've smoked pot a few times, and drink on occasion.

When my wife was younger, she did mushrooms with some friends. Last summer she met a friend who had them. We bought some, and just 'shroomed along. Now, I'm trying to grow them here at the house--without much success yet.

She calls it my 'little hobby'.

Thanks!

I know you aren't going to believe this, but we have actually talked to our pastor about it.

We haven't spoken to anyone of our personal experinces, but he knows we do mushrooms on occasion. He's a very hip pastor--which is why we go to church there. He's led a very interesting life before he became a pastor--even has done mushrooms on occassion.

I know you all think I'm crazy, but my life is better because I do mushrooms. I see things more clearly--I hear things with a differant prospective.

Jesus is real. I see Him everyday, in everything. And He makes me a better person. My faith was strong before mushrooms--now it's even stronger.

Thank you

Welcome, LooseCannon!  What an amazing post!  It filled my heart with happiness to read your story!  And no offence to the youngins on the forum, but may I say how pleasant it is to have a few mature folks here.

Yeah, the mushroom is pretty powerful and can certainly bring people closer to each other and to the gGodhead.  If it were a prescription though, it would say "CAUTION! TAKE ON EMPTY STOMACH AND TREAT WITH UTMOST RESPECT!" on the label.  If I were you, I wouldn't mention it to your congregation or your pastor.  Psychedelics (even natural ones) create severe paranoid reactions in people who have never taken them.  Use them for yourself and let them guide you privately, enriching your life and your spirituality from within.

It's neat that gGod made them available to us, hey?  He rocks!

wishing you pleasant journeys!

Every part of my being tells me there is someone out there who watchs and guides me. I've felt His hand many times in my life--I've watched Him mend broken hearts and dreams. I've seen Him turn people from anger to love. And I've personally experinenced His love in my life.

You can say it's Zeus or Loki, or whatever. But I believe in Jesus, and I believe he's the Son of a Living God. And everytime I've called apon His name for strength and guidence, He's answered me. Not as I've always wanted--but He has answered me. The amazing things that have happened in my life--and recently, are not the acts of chance--or of a wood nymph.

It's easy to disbelieve. It's much harder to believe.

Thanks and have a great day!

nordic note:
loki is not a friend of humanity...
even odin skyfather does not compell or threaten - he only promises that those who wish to join him as warriors in the final battle (ragnarok) will be suitably rewarded for their efforts...
loki is more than mere trickster (such as the american coyote or raven) but one who actually wishes ill for mortals, and is himself of a quite untrustworthy nature...
but if asgard must fall (and the aesir join beloved baldur in death), well the knowledge that odin skyfather gained whilst hanging from a tree, and the secret that he whispered into dead baldur's ear, is most likely that after the cycle of total and utter destruction, the world will green again...
~
~
have you read anything by mike young (one of the divinity students who was part of the "miracle at marsh chapel" experiment (walter pankhe, tim leary... harvard '63 psilocybin in church trip test)) ? might be some stuff over at www.csp.org ... (well, he's a unitarian pastor now...)
~
peace be with you...

A church-going, mushroom-eating Christian?
Do my eyes decieve me?

Maybe you can turn your church on... spread the message that mushrooms aren't bad (like most Christians claim- hence the mushroom's illegality).

I'm not religious at all and normally, I hold a stereotype that Christians are uptight and closeminded about the world, but it really made me happy to hear that you and your wife (and pastor apparently) are all open to what the world has to offer. If only more people could be more like you, the world would be a better place.
