Yellowing Mycelium? Normal or contam?

I have some jars of SA that have been colonizing for almost a month now. Around the fringes of the mycelium, it is turning a faint yellowish. I have no means to take a picture, but it almost looks like an aging of the mycelium. You guys think it's a contam? I can't tell if it's wet spot, b/c I can't smell it.
Thanks

Untape lid holes and flip the jars to improove air exchange. Yes, that's probably old mycelium or mycelium excretion. Do what i told you and wait one week, if you have no growth then you'll have no shrooms, hehehehe... "Run for life !!!!"

I unflapped the tape and I could smell an old wet sneaker smell. From what I read, this is "wet spot". Could I still cut the uncolonized substrate off and case the colonized? Let me know.

Fuck it, I just threw the jars away. Six god damn jars down the shitter. The worst part is, I think more of another batch has it. How come I keep getting this "wet spot" so damn much? Too much water?

Now you fucked... Sometimes the odor is due to excessive Co2 acumulation. I would have give them another chance, anyway, if you think it's a contam throw it out. Next time, untape and flip the jars when you reach 80% colonization to prevent the mycelium growth to stall.

No, it definately was a contam. I busted open the cakes, b/c I actually was going to try to case with it. The inside was all rotten looking and smelled like all hell. I must be putting too much water in when I mix my substrate.

Excessive water in the substrate is always a problem : you're more likely to have contamns and the growth will slow down at the end. If you doubt while preparing the substrate, always prefer putting a little less water. The possible lack of water could be solved by casing your cakes.
Good luck in the future !
