I have been using these with great success as an easy, cheap, fast way to aerate your jars w/o tyvek or poly fill and some of the problems with them.I have been using fabric bandaid "spots" like for injection sites over the standard 3/8 air hole in my lid. They stay put even at 2hrs@ 17psi and as stated by the company are designed to prevent exposure to bacteria. The foam style also work well(possibly even for injection sites/w a sterilant to seal the hole)and hold up fine in the P/C. I just poke a hole in the lid and stick the adhesive disk over the hole.I also use the tiny strips to cover injection sites on larger jars.Just peel it back, inoculate and replace. Any way they are cheap, fast and effective so even if it isn't exactly advanced it is great for advanced teks. One more thing B/A's are available with a treated pad containing a antibiotic/antiseptic I will be trying them as injection sites for spores by injecting through the antiseptic pad with the needle and not cover the injection site to see if they are safe as "self healing" since the gauze/teflon pad is itself antseptic it may be plenty of barrier to contams. They offer advantages over tyvek and polyfill as tyvek can lose too much moisture and polyfill has a fuzzy wad projecting into the media jar which can collect media and become dirty if you shake your jars.Band aids breathe like tyvek but can be easily applied over a small hole, also they have a flat, flush, non stick surface on the inside of the jar which no amount of shaking will have substrate sticking. And since they come in all sizes they should work for any size opening such as for larger jars. I hope this is of some help.WR

Good idear I've ben using Micro pore medical tap over the inoculation holes, injecting through it then retaping over to create a double thickness.
But i think ill try some of the antibacterial plasters too.
I wonder if they make that micro ban plastic in a fleece type form?

Cool MAIA! Have you tried doing spore or mycelial inoculations through them? Will they reseal after the needle penetrates?Should have known it was too obvious to have been missed by the brainpower here! WR
