If you can't afford both of them at once, I would probably steer you to their first, "Are You Shpongled?". IMO it is a little more electric, while the second has a little more ambience. What are you listening to now?

256 or 360 is merely a step dwon from CD quality.
CD quality on albums as great and profound of shpongle cannot be overstressed. you MUST own the CDs for this brilliant piece of work. the audio quality hits you much clearer. I have a high quality sound system, worth over 2 grand. The quality is obviously noticeable from mp3 to CD.
CDs are simply better. Any transformation from CD to any other media is inherantly cutting quality.
buy the CDs.

WMA format at 320 or 256 is better than CD quality which is apx equal to 192 WMA format. I have an old Pioneer tube driver reciever and the sound that comes out of it is soo beautiful. What kind of system do you have?

I agree with Major_Buzz, "Are you shpongled?" is definately the better of the two..
Had two burnt copies before buying the two on cd, and yep, there's no substitue for quality!!

I havnt heard all of "Tales of The Inexpressible", but from what I have heard I'd say "Are You Shpongled" is better IMO. I couldnt find them anywhere either - and I looked in every freekin CD store I saw for the last 6 months. I guess I'll have to buy it online for 20 or more dollars. At least its a CD worth it!
256k quality isnt better then CD and even if it were converting your CD's to MP3 isnt going to improve the quality no matter how expensive of a system you have or what bitrate you convert too. Converting to MP3 can only degrade the sound quality.

You do not make sense: You can't surpass cd-quality with these albums unless you have access to Simon Posford's hard-drive.... the CD is encoded at CD-quality - how can you rip a cd and end up with something HIGHER than cd-quality? Maybe I just don't understand this audio technology, but from what I know; this is impossible.
Regardless, I just listened to "Are You Shpongled?" on my first high dose of ayahuasca last night, and holy fuck that was incredible This is a very thought-promoting audio production, to say the least.

MP3 and WMA are lossy formats, therefore they can't be better than CD quality. You do lose something in the compression, that's why it's called a lossy format.
-------------------- The above is an extract from my fictional novel, "The random postings of Edame".
In the beginning was the word. And man could not handle the word, and the hearing of the word, and he asked God to take away his ears so that he might live in peace without having to hear words which might upset his equinamity or corrupt the unblemished purity of his conscience.
And God, hearing this desperate plea from His creation, wrinkled His mighty brow for a moment and then leaned down toward man, beckoning that he should come close so as to hear all that was about to be revealed to him.
"Fuck you," He whispered, and frowned upon the pathetic supplicant before retreating to His heavens.

I was just posting info directly from WMP, under the copy music options it states that 48KPS is near CD quality and 96KPS is CD quality, therefore anything above would be better than CD quality. I personally use 192 KPS becasue this is equal to more than 320 KPS MP3 format.

oh rofl now I see where you are mistaken.
Its referring to KPS, not kBps.....
anyway, even if you ripped a CD at "higher" than cd-quality, it wouldn't sound any better than the CD.. it can't.

<3 Shpongle.
I have both discs in 160 kbps right now, and I wish I had them sharper. I have two problems with obtaining the CD's: One, I don't have a CDA player, and two, I don't have the money to pay exchange rates when ordering discs from the United States. So if someone would be so enormously kind as to encode their CD's to the highest possible maximum mp3 quality and upload them to my FTP, I would be eternally grateful and in your debt.
The FTP is at 68.147.219.131, port 21. Login/Pass: mp3:mp3. Upload to the uploads directory. Feel free to download as much as you wish. That goes to everyone. If you are a shroomery.org member, you're welcome on the FTP. Please do not share it with your friends.

Completely based on what I heard on this forum, I oedered both Shpongled CD's and they finally came in the mail yesterday. I took a few hits of resin last night (yes, its lame, but we are getting a new bag today) and listened to Tales of the Inexpressible. I must admit that it was a very gratifying experience. I have never been too big into electronic music but that just blew me away. I can't wait to listen to both albums when I'm really stoned, and I really really cant wait to listen to them after eating the wonderful fungi. I have never bought a CD before based completely on what people say, but this forum, especially you Strump, had me convinced I should, and I must thank you.

well first of all, since you like Twisted, have you checkd out The Lone Deranger? Its kind of Simon Posford's stepping-stone from his Hallucinogen dancey-psytrance into Shpongle.
Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger is definitely the coolest psytrance album of all time, in my opinion, and it was made back in 1998 (right before he started Are You Shpongled?). Its STILL more detailed, more structured, and more layered than any other psytrance I've heard so you should check that out, and if you dig that as much as or more than Twisted, then you'll REALLY love Shpongle. If you don't like it, hell; check out Shpongle anyway Kuz all simon-fans should hear what may be the PEAK of his career (but hopefully his peak hasn't hit yet )
Good Luck - lemmie know if you get either Hallucinogen - The Lone Deranger or either Shpongle album.

Hey guys, a newbie here so i guess this is my "fIrStPoSt".
I'm a huge shpongle fan, and recommend them to anyone I can.
If you like psytrance, like hallucinogen and such I reccomend Infected Mushroom, quite the masters of all things. If you can only download 1 track, download Infected Mushroom - Dancing with Kadafi. An abosolutly amazing track
