heat source

i've been thinking about using an electric blanket as my heat source. i have a sterlite tub that will hold 7-12 1/2 pint cakes in a week or so. the blanket has a temperature gauge.. my plan is to sit the sterlite tub on the blanket and wrap the blanket around the sides of the tub about 1/2 way up. is this a good idea? bad idea? this is my first attempt at cultivation..

I hope you don't burn your house down.

I only use incubators with submersible aquarium heaters.
I like my home...and don't want any fires.

what would the difference be between a heated blanket, and a hot plate.  i see a hot plate as being more dangerous
