Gamecube: Back To Basics
    #12382439 - 04/13/10 01:34 AM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Haha I was just wondering if any of you still had your old Gamecube hooked up.

To me it's the greatest system ever made. I hardly ever play 360/PS3, even though they are readily availiable, I just turn on the 'cube and play some Windwaker, or carry it to parties for some Smash Brothers haha

Any other Gamecuber's still out there? I know you exist, I just have to find you

God damnit I wish I still had that thing. Nothing like having a bunch of friends over and spending hours in front of the TV playing Smash Bros.

Yeah, I've still got an old gamecube setup. I mostly use my wii now though, as Smash Bros Brawl is the shit, and the wii plays my gc games anyway.

Best games on GC:

Melee (obviously)
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil Remake
Soul Calibur 2
Windwaker
Twilight Princess

Wow this is great! I knew I'd find some cube fans  We should band together and make some Gamecube Fansite haha

I guess my favorites would be:
Animal Crossing
Windwaker
Smash Bros.
Metroid Prime
Pikmin 2
OOT Master Quest
Timesplitters 2

Really there are so many more! haha

I love my GameCube.  I busted it out the other night for Sonic Mega Collection.

Definitely LOVE playing me some Resident Evil.  I was the CHAMP at that game.  I beat it in two hours on Hard with Jill.  :headbang:

You guys also forgot Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, the rest of the Resident Evil release, RE4, THPS 4....

Yeah, and without a gun for the majority of the game.  You run faster without a gun and can dodge almost every enemy besides bosses.

I think I took a picture of it when I did it.

But it was probably my 8th or 9th playthrough.  My first playthrough probably took 20 hours or more.... can't remember as it was 10 years ago (or whenever it was released).

RE0 was awesome, although somewhat of a repeat of certain aspects of preceding Resident Evils.

Yes the gamecube rocks!
Games I love:
- Animal Crossing
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
- Resident Evil 4

games I love that weren't mentioned:
- Beyond good and Evil (great underrated game that incorporates stealth, platforming, and adventure. Great story line with good twists)
- Worms 3D (great game where you get a team of worms and you take turns with the computer of a friend and kill each other with some crazy weapons)
- Worms Blast (a really fun puzzle game that has elements from the Worms series)
- Cubivore (in a universe where everything is cube shaped you kill and eat other cubivore animals and mate to evolve to get stronger and kill tougher cubivores)

And who can forget the Gameboy Player! Great tool that you attach to the bottom of your GC and you can play all GBC, GB, and GBA games on the big screen!

It's too linear/easy/not enough interesting sidequests/bosses/dungeons to be remembered.

I really wish I still had my gamecube to play melee. I have brawl now my my wii is one of those first generation Wii's that can't play dual layer discs.

:feelsbadman:

I was also a God at Tony Hawk games for the GCN, the controls were so damn well set up.

Gamestop is a rip off on nearly every front.  If there's anything you should buy from them, it's brand new games and consoles because they don't profit.

Ahhhh this tread is making me want 2 buy a cube just to play back through Windwalker & Metroid :samus: The thing that really got me with those games was the overall sense of being alone and free to unfold and explore the intricate world of puzzles and mysterious landscapes, each designed with such unique art direction.

I know that this is an old post, I really hope nobody hates me for bringing this back but it is so completely awesome to see GameCube fans!

Unfortunately I spur of the moment decided to give mine away to some little kids a couple years ago along with my beloved Animal Crossing (ahhhh it still hurts...well at least we got it on wii now!) but I still kick myself for not finishing Eternal Darkness before giving it away.  Seriously that game was the shit and I put it down without finishing it...

GameCube were hardy as hell but I still managed to go through two older ones before my final one which lasted years.  The n64 that we have hooked up though...that thing is a tank
