An animal's sense of the vastness of space...
    #1237529 - 01/21/03 05:32 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

I asked my kitty how big he thought the universe was and he replied:

"This big!"

That was no coincidence...  God is trying to tell you something...
That something is, "Adamist!!! I am a cat.  Bow down to the might that is feline!  That cat is my progeny... take it back to the library and bury it in the spot where you found it... and DO NOT QUESTION ME!!!"
[/stoner logic]

Sorry.

Nice one Swam!

That reminds me of a book I saw in a bookstore in Sedona AZ.  For those of you who don't know. Sedona is a "hot spot" for vortices of power and a haven for New Agers.  The book was entitled:

"Why Cats Paint"

It was about the psychology of housecats and why the felt the need to express themselves through the medium of paint and canvas.  All sorts of "Cat psychology" was introduced.

At first I was assumed.  Then later I fell into a rage because my cat out-painted me at the local art show.  I took away his pet mouse for a month.

This is a real book! And they are quite serious about this!  Here is a quote:

"Lavishly illustrated and thoroughly researched, it outlines the many different aspects of feline creativity and offers a detailed examination of representative works from some of the best-known cat artists around the world. Twelve major painters, from spontaneous reductionist to neo-synthesist are covered in depth. Other art forms including sculptural works with furniture, nocturnal installations using rodents and sratch markings using litter and sand."

Taken from http://www.freddie-street.com/guide/wcpaint.shtml

It's a howl!

No wait, that's the wrong animal. :smirk:

Yeah, and from the same authors came the sequel "Why Paint Cats" which is an art book of painted cats. Seriously. It's done with vegetable dyes. My now ex-girlfriend asked for this book for her birthday a few weeks back, so I got it for her, thinking "oh gGod what now?" but it's actually rather neat. Apparently its a very ancient tradition in mid-Eastern and Eastern cultures and is only just catching on here. Some of the painted cats are quite beautiful.

That is pretty but as beauty is in the eye of the beholder opinions may vary.  I am sure PETA wouldn't be pleased.

As far as cats paintiing goes I would be more impressed if they produced some paintings reflecting realism.  But  NoooOOOOooooo, these cool cats  are to hep for that.

When they start painting like da Vinci I'll pay a little more attention.  :smirk:

Actually, if I remember correctly, PETA had a say in the books production, or at least they're mentioned a lot in the text.

A lot of the book goes into cat psychology too. Apparently cats painted in a particular colour will choose feeding dishes of the same colour, indicating their awareness of their new look.

But yeah, some of the cat-art is pretty unpleasant. There was one poor old tom-cat painted like a clown in some art gallery in Berlin. The cat was placed in an "installation" in the gallery ... a pink room with the floor covered in dildos & vibrators, some of which were turned on. The cat would of course attack these.

Any wonder that the artist was lesbian?

Oh man, ppl, if you wanna see some very cool cats, you will gotto your local Chapters and flip thru that book!
That pic on the cover does NO justice to some of the pics inside the book. They go from religious looking to just fuckin tripped out.

I might get that book for my GF too. =D she liked it a lot.
Altho its like CAN$ 40 i think. Ouch.

But can anyone imagine owning a colored cat, and tripping at the same time?  The kitty might get a bit nervous from your new obsesion.

Well, that was almost my first thought, too.

I also like the story of the man with the turtles who pasted gems to their shells and just let them roam around his apartment while he puffed on his hookah and ate hashish.  My ex has two turtles and occassionally I would try to convince her to do this but no go.  Oh well.

Yes, but where is your Kitty's empirically demonstrable PROOF of hers/his declaration? *

Just a cheap attempt to keep that pic near the top of the page, i admit it

do you think it's fucked up to hotbox an animal? I heard some guys talk about it at work, they said they hotboxed a puppy and watched him run all stoned thru the house... :frown: the pup probbably was scared at first, then all happy and stoned after sitting thru the smoke session

Cats seem to enjoy the smoke sessions more than dogs do. When I smoke, it's always a cat that goes to the smoking room, not a dog. It's always the cat that will tolerate smoke blow in it's direction etc etc.

stop being ignorant please, YES you are abusing your pet.
you dont know it, in all likelyhood you CANT know it.
dont bother defending yourself ive heard it all, and its all excuses. there is no spiritual/medical/sceintific/ benifit for your animal, and plenty of ill effects.
they dont enjoy altered states of consiousness. and if you think they do then maybe you should have a third party, (preferably a profesional one) examine the way you interpret and construct reality around the justification of you actions.
or you could just stop abusing animals and not have to own up to anything. its JUST as good.
it would be BETTER if you stood up to your friends for doing it and make it uncool. if they stop being your friend, then obviously they are WAY more ignorant than you.
