\Well, first off, hello everyone. I'm Cryptix420, and I'm delighted to be a member of these forums
I have decided to post up a grow journal here, to share my grow with you all as well as to get a little advice as it is my first attempt. Anyone with knowledge to share is greatly welcome.
Well, here are all the pics I have so far. as of now, I'm in about day 10 of colonization, and about 7 of the jars have started to show healthy growth. The other 5 I'm pretty sure are duds.
The Equipment

Going In for Sterilization

Inoculation

Day 5 - First Signs of Growth

Day 7

Day 9 - 7 Jars showing multiple germination points

Day 10 of Growth

Also, 2 of the 5 jars I thought were duds have started showing growth!
Got my ultra-sonic humidifier in today as well. I'm open to any ideas as to how to implement it into my fruiting chamber (rubbermaid tub/perlite)

This humidifier is great. I think it's really going to speed things along.

Also, if any of you wanted to know exactly what my incubation setup looks like, here it is. Not much, lol.

While they are colonizing they don't need any humidify and keep the temps at room temp 70-75F. Take that towel off the jars and put them on a shelf/cupboard somewhere.
The humidifier wont help them colonize faster and the towel on top of them will slow things down they need to breath (GE)
GE= Gas Exchange

I see. Thanks for the tips.
Without the humidifier my room's RH drops to about 20%...should I still keep it on to keep the whole room more humid?

Right now there's no need to run a humidifier. Once you get your fruiting chamber built and see what the RH is in it then you can decide if you need to run it or not

I was under the impression from what I read that if the RH in the room is too low during incubation then the moisture in the jars will evaporate leaving the cakes dry.
Is this not true?

No I find it not to be true. I live in a semi desert climate it can get very very dry here and have not have any problems with cakes drying out while colonizing

i just colonized my last 10 BRF cakes in fairly sealed box in a dresser drawer. opened it for a min or two every day but htats it and they all colonized perfectly.
as for implementing the humidifier into your fc, find some rubber tubing that will fit over that nozzle and run it through a hole (sealed around the edges) straight into your FC, right between your cakes if you can...then punch a bunch of holes in the tubing where your cakes will be and it'll get rid of all the Co2 that settles at the bottom as well as give FAE and help with pinning. from my exp anyways.
this is mine its on a reptile humidifier, nowhere near as powerful as yours so its thinner tubing and you prob cant see the holes:

So I have a few questions..
Do places like Lowes/Home Depot usually carry the kind of rubber tubing I would need, or should I just resort to the internet?
When I start the fruiting chamber, do the lids that come with the clear rubbermaid tubs have sufficiently tight lids, or is something like press & seal wrap preferred?
When I dunk & roll, should I refrigerate them during the dunk part? Theres seems to be a lot of confusion on this.
Can I just dunk them individually in the jars that they colonized in, after a good washing?
Is it this excruciating for everyone, waiting for your first colonization to finish?

The lids that come with the totes are fine
Cubes dont benefit from a cold shock, dont dunk them in the fridge
Don't dunk them in the jars they will expand and are a pain to get out. Dunk them in a pot or a huge bowl and make sure they are weighed down so they stay submerged

I noticed you inverted your jars - is that a necessary step in the colonization process?

In my opinion jars should not be inverted and have no reason to be

Yes, I'm following your Tek this weekend for my first attempt at cultivation and didn't read anything about inverting the jars. It seems like you put a lot of emphasis on gas exchange during colinization and I have to think inverting them would limit that.
'PF Tek Done Right Tek' has been incredibly helpful by the way!

Muchas gracias. I'll just use my pressure cooker to dunk them all in at once, and put the lid on to keep germs out. Would a little Lysol hurt the cakes?
Also...a few of the jars are pretty much done colonizing. Is it true I should wait another week to birth them?
