I don't know which "hippies and healthfreaks" you're referring to. Most people I know who comment on fast food culture are bashing on the lifestyle that the corporations market and focus on to sell their products. This significantly affects some to the point where obesity becomes a major issue for them, others have the mental will, emotional stability, and physiology to keep high fat/animal protein consumption in moderation, although statistics in the U.S. point quite to the extreme end of the spectrum.
Why is the focus on this particular dish? Because it's part of a lifestyle culture that is ultimately harming the health of a population. And with the argument of illegal drugs being verboten to protect public health, it just makes the whole story very preposterous indeed.

I have no doubt that fast food is killing Americans/America, I just think all this hoopla over the double-down is unnecessary consider how much worse for you a lot of other fast food is, and has been for years.
If the healthfoodies wanna get mad about something, get mad about the baconator, or maybe some restaurant food like Red Robin's normal cheeseburger which tops out at 900 calories, even more than the baconator! Add in some fries and sugary-syrupy soft drink at you're looking at 1600 calories a meal or more.
Or maybe we should all eat grass and tofu

i am not referring to just being a "nice" person. you totally missed my point. and, personally i HAVE met people, admired their way of being and been inspired to change myself.
being nice transcends social interaction in my opinion. i aslo believe that the negativity in our lives is often the catalyst for change. whether it be criticism or heartache or whatever.

It's brief and not that great, there's a few things on cultural authenticity and whatnot in my journal as well.

I prefer mine genetically modified with extra pesticide!
I'm now allergic to most pesticides and fertilizers. I'm pretty much forced to eat processed (in one way or another) fruits and some veggies. By virtue of even making them edible, I'm destroying any of the real benefits of such natural foods.
Farmer's market.. few weeks.. really can't wait.
Ohhh yeah baby.

Don't act like you don't know who the "hippies and healthfreaks" are.
Is the Baconator not part of the same "fast food culture" when it came out 3 years ago? Or the Quarter pounder when it was introduced in 1971?
So your "lifestyle culture" is superior to theirs? It's that type of condescension that turns so many people away from eating healthy. I mean look at Jamie Oliver's latest fiasco.
You can't just run up to people and take the food out of their hands and say "You dummy, don't you know how bad that is for you? Good thing I came a long. Here, do what I do, I'm right and you're wrong."
There's no need in stirring shit just because they put some cheese on some fried chicken. If it disgusts you, don't eat it.
edit: It sounds like I'm bitchin' specifically at you Altered, I just want you to know I'm not

Absolutely
edit: I'd like to see a world where not ONLY do billboards tell you to eat McDonald's, but they tell you to smoke reefer, and eat nutrient pills ("two a day is all ya need!") and buy your new Ford Spaceliner flying car.
You know, some kind of technologist/humanist/Brave-New-World-with-good-art utopia.
I don't think it's anyone's place but yours, Gonz, to decide what you put in your body.
I will assume, that if the substance is bad for you, that you already know that and don't give a fuck

Its ABSOLUTELY superior, but not in a dick measuring ego-maniacal way. It's superior in that it keeps the body running at optimal form, prevents diseases, and illnesses, minimizes/eliminates the need for doctors/prescriptions, fights depression, etc, etc, etc (while the fast food diet is the antithesis of all I just said). I could go on. It is up to the individual to seek their own truth. I'm not here to babysit anyone, and if people want to live like pigs it's their call.
I don't run up to people and tell them what not to eat. It's funny though because our CULTURE tells people exactly what to eat. How many McDonalds billboards did you see on the way to work this morning?? How many McDonalds did you pass on the way to work???? How many Double Deckers will be sold because of that CNN article alone?
It's funny though. you tell me not to run up and tell people not to put certain things in their body, but if I'm in the park smoking a joint, a cop will UNDOUBTEDLY "run up to me and take it", and then imprison me for me lifestyle choices. Our society is awfully fucking hypocritical, no?
