White to Brown...instantly

There are very nice clusters of shrooms popping up over night. The color is a nice white....but as soon as exposed to indirect light...pins turn tannish brown, almost instantly. Is this a good or bad thing?? They were put back into dark after the color change was noticed. When looked at again...at a latter time...White is once again showing where pins grew. Am afraid to expose to light again for fear that browning may be harmful.

Are you talking about the pins themselves, or the areas in which they were harvested? Also, if the top of the pins are tanning, then that would be normal. Just the cap forming.......

Eyesight is just fine.  :wink:
Am referring to the stalks of the pins.  They grow in the dark and when I look at them...stalks are white.  After being in filtered/indirect sunlight for....lets say, over an hour...the stalks start turning tannish with dark brown streaks.  They go back into darkness.  After being in darkness for several more hours...the new growth on pins is noticable...because new growth is white and rest of stalk is tannish.
Pins are EQ strain...if that helps out?  EQ's have any particular, weird habbits?

Hmmmm.....my EQ's colors seemed to vary slightly from an off-white to a tan color. I don't think you have a problem.

Now...should they be continued to be kept in darkness or is a couple of hours in filtered light nessesary?
Is worrisom to see such drastic color change.  The dark, vertical streaks are almost like 'streach marks' eh??  :tongue:
EQ, she is a fast grower though, eh?!  exciting!!!  :grin:
