Sporeless fruits!
    #1232995 - 01/20/03 06:58 AM (13 years, 10 months ago)

Ok a few mushies growing on my casing have mutated. One has twisted and webbed together and the caps are white and mutated. One just has a thin spindilt stem with a "cap" that is basically all gills. There pointing out everywhere and looks like a 40 pointed star. Another looks normal but a corner is lifted up exposing the gills which are tan and sporeless. 2 other normal but smaller fruits have broken veil and have completely tan gills! No spores! At first I blamed the mutations on using a 5 to 1 water hydrogen peroxide recipe. Can peroxide cause this? Im picking right as the veil tears on the bigger ones So I cannot tell you if they have spores. Is this rare? Thanks.

What strain are you working with?? Perhaps you are using a strain that is such a hybrid that its DNA are starting to deteriorate?

I believe that yes, the peroxide can cause such mutations.
If you can post a photo, please.

Wouldn't you need quite a bit of peroxide for mutations to form?
