Oh..and then there's the Jabberwocky poem
?Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.
?Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!?
He took his vorpal sword in hand: Long time the manxome foe he sought? So rested he by the Tumtum tree, And stood awhile in thought.
And as in uffish thought he stood, The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, Came whiffling through the tulgey wood, And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead, and with its head He went galumphing back.
?And hast thou slain the Jabberwock? Come to my arms, my beamish boy! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!? He chortled in his joy.
?Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe; All mimsy were the borogoves, And the mome raths outgrabe.

"The Acid House" by Irvine Welsh same auther as trainspotting. its a bunch of short-stories: 1-5 pages. Very fucked up stuff, very thought provoking. an excellent read

Almost anything that you enjoy striaght can be read while tripping. My personal favorite so far was Dan Simmon's Endymion. I mean, it's not like normal reading, mostly I do it on the way up and during the last two hours...never been able to near peak...and not on a 5 gm'er either. But, if you don't mind re-reading pages...sometimes 3 or 4 times, reading can be a blast and offer some insight not to be found normally
Be well

you have to check out Jorge Luis Borges. most of his work consists of short stories. there's a collection called 'labyrinths', which i highly recommend. i don't think it includes 'the aleph' though, which you should really read as well.

oh.. and 'flatland' by Edwin A. Abbott. everyone should read this book. it does contain a large dose of misogyny, but if you can look past this it's well worth it. the implications of the ideas presented in this book are quite mindblowing.

I dont know if this one's already been said, but just about any Carlos Castaneda book is good for a little cerebral stimulation. If you're into the outdoors read some Tom Brown Jr. books, he learned wilderness survival from an old indian too, and his books are meant to pass on those ancient traditions.

Okay.. Just thought i'd bring back this thread to tell you about this book called The Art Of Looking Sideways. Not sure how I can describe it, but I reccommend that you guys check it out. It's basically a collection of Moments, Ideas, Reflections... 500 + pages. The chapters have titles like "creativity", "colour", "dreaming, "synchroncity", "intelligence", "perception"...and so on. In other words, trippy.

The hashish club 2: from huxley to lennon ed. by peter haining. There's stuff from neal cassady, kerouac, burroughs, ginsberg, leary, watts, terry southern, lennon, hunter thompson, jerry garcia, and a bunch of other people who I don't remember.
of course the electric kool aid acid test by tom wolfe, and anything by terence mckenna.
also LSD: the private sea and the search for god. this book is a really good intro to the philosophic and religious ramifications (and context) of the trip.
