Micropore tape during colonization?

I've searched many times and everything I've come up with has confused me, so what should I do? Should I leave the tape on during colonization or just take it off? By the way, I have my jars colonizing in an empty drawer in my room and temp. fluctuates between 68-80. Is this ok?

Why remove micropore tape. No need. It serves as a better contam sheild than Verm, any day. Micropore tape allows plenty of G/E, even over a Verm barrier.Again, no need.

Taking the tape off should not hurt you either.
The important thing to remember is to leave your jars alone while they colonize, the more you pick them up and move them around the better chance contams have to get in.

No need for tape... thats what the dry verm layer is for.

Micropore tape adds an extra layer of protection. More protection is better than less. &^%#@ (expletive) contams try to sneak into everything.

Bro i have done PF tek too many times I have never used micropore tape. I have a 99% contam free rate in pf jars.

I only did PF once years back, then moved on to grain spawn, bulk substrate, casing and fruiting in a GH. The once I did PF, I had zero contaminates. Caution is the better approach in mycology, and micropore tape is cheap extra protection when doing PF jars. What are we talking about, 5 seconds of time to apply 0.02 cents worth of micropore tape. But, to each his own, and I respect your point of veiw.
Here is micropore for G/E on saran wrap covered bulk substrate.

So keep the tape on for a better protection against contams. Got it. Will this increase colonizing time though?

Potentially, by a negligible amount.

I've had the best results simply using tyvek lid filters and calling it a day.

no tape over the needle holes?
Ive used tyvek with micropore over the needle hole, the top always comes out weird, unless you level it , but you can get bigger cakes

Everything I use follows this basic simple format.
Tyvek filter patch for Filtered Gas Exchange + Silicone Injection Port:
Quart Jars:

Plastic jars:
That's actually a piece of tyvek held on by micropore, because I was out of silicone glue.
Plastic Spawn Bags

Does anyone know if there's a difference between using transpore tape rather than micropore? I used micropore but was curious as to whether or not it would matter or not.
