I'm new...have a question..
    #1232382 - 01/19/03 10:53 PM (14 years, 6 months ago)

Hello all, I'm new here. I've been reading for a couple months, but just recently registered. It's good meeting all of you.

Ok, I have a question. I've been reading grow guides for awhile, but I don't think I'm quite ready to dive in. So I've been thinking about buying one of the growkits, as a way to watch and see what happens/the processess. In doing so, am I just wasting my money? Does anyone have any experiences with them? Are the harvests good, if at all? Do you recommend any particulars?
Thanks a ton folks, and I look forward to spending some time here!

-Brian

what grow kits? i beleive that would probably would be wasting your money and maybe your time with that, pf tek is pretty easy, and doesnt cost alot, especially if you consider the payoff.

I dont think it really matters how you start just as long as you do start
Grow kits are the easyiest way into this hobbie and the pf tec(Annos is a little more user friendly) both have there pluses and both can show good results.

All depends on the kit really and the price.

Good luck what ever way you chose to go

Amen Voodoo   IMO, the PF-Tek is the way to go for a first grow, and even better is Anno's simplified version.

PF's: http://www.fanaticus.com/pf-tek.htm
Anno's: http://www.fungifun.org/pf/pf_en.htm

Yeah 4 for $25 is a good deal, generally - some have better deals, but it's usually by a margin of a few bucks here or there.

I was widely advised that Ecuadors (EQs) are great for newbies, but B+'s are supposed to be one of the most forgiving.  I'm sure others will have more specific points for the above parts.

For a fully submersible heater, that's probably what it'll run you.  Check out Petsmart for some good deals (I think they had a submersible 100w heater for $16 US.

Good luck!  I'm only one step ahead of you! 8-) (see under Grow Logs)

Since your going with the PF tek why not go with the PF Classic strain. $10 from PF, and why not support PF?, hell they're the originators, and they're the shit. Always got my syringes quick

Just do what everyone has said and do the classic pf tk; if you want, try differentiating your mediums in different jars to expose yourself to more of the potentials....

The heater is for an incubator chamber but you only need 50watter: check out my grow log for the incubator chamber my friend & I made at http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Growlog&Number=1232543&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 And if you want, you dont have to use one but it is worth it in my opinion (it is non too expensive, and from what I've read, you get better growth + better control for when you fruit them (as in there will be an actual drop in temp to instigate fruiting)..

The heater can also be used for the terrarium, as I do since my growing area is a around 65 degrees (winter isn't helping).
