Pretty interesting vid overall
I pretty much agree with ya here. I don't know what it is about him but I don't really care for him too much. He says some funny things, but i just pick up an ego, or maybe it's just his desperate desire to sound intelligent all the time. idk. was pretty funny that he was trying to say that crick was on lsd when he decoded the genome. "i read about it on the internet," he says.
I haven't looked into the whole Crick thing. Are you sure it isn't true though? You just pass it off with seemingly less info than he.
It's my understanding that crick had used lsd in his life prior to actually decoding it, which took years and years to do. so to claim that he did it while under the influence is completely false. Now the question is, to what degree did his LSD experiences influence his thoughts in that ultimate direction. One man knew that.

Meh...
Joe Rogan sounds like some dumb college kid who smoked too much weed while watching the discovery channel.
I just know Kaku is shaking his head through most of that interview.

Yeah but I can identify with what Rogan is saying...I mean he's probably a little too confident for his own good but don't discount what he says just because he doesn't care how he comes off.

He doesn't even make any new points. Just repeating talking points from the Discovery Channel back to Kaku.
And DMT is produced naturally in the brain? He has no idea what he's talking about. This is speculation at best, and there's no evidence to support it.
Michio Kaku's a smart man. He didn't deserve to sit through that onslaught of stupidity.

Yeah Michio is definitely more legit but I still respect Joe Rogan for spreading positive propaganda about drugs. And plus, what he was saying was in no way stupid, just very blunt. Like, he sort of cites the internet as a source very frequently which makes him come off as a scrub, but the internet is a valid source of information. He was asking Kaku if he had a computer cause I'm sure he could pull up some pretty convincing information.

if you've taken DMT and haven't realized because of it that LIFE itself is the trip, then you've pretty much missed the point
Kaku explains that you can get high on life. He is from a buddhist upbringing. and Buddhists can achieve these psychedelic states through forms of meditation and self-discipline. This is something Mckenna overlooked. Mckenna could not understand these eastern forms of mindscape. but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I know these states are possible without drugs because I've experienced it myself

Yeah, Joe Rogan can be a real 'tard at times. He prolly didn't even fully understand what he was even saying when he was spouting off chemical compounds that he quoted form Wikipedia. . .

Joe Rogan is pretty cool, I loved him in NewsRadio, though I was disappointed when I saw him on Fear Factor and UFC. I love how he simultaneously ran the conversation into the ground and made it more interesting when he started talking about drugs.
Kaku sounds like he's a lot smarter than Rogan but it's also great to hear Rogan's quick-tongued tenacity in setting psychedelics apart from narcotic drugs. The man's got passion.

I like how he tried to "hook" kaku into the topic by saying his theories were "trippy".

depends on what state you're talking about
McKenna's real pitch about psychedelics is markedly different from almost everybody else's, even if he doesn't quite state it explicitly from my reading and listening of McKenna, the attribute of psychedelics which interested him almost exclusively was the ephemeral and apparently alien information-bearing aspects of the experience
no sensible or informed person would contest that meditation is a non-drug route to timeless and/or egoless and/or highly compassionate mind-states, but if you listen to McKenna carefully it's pretty clear that these states were not his primary concern
obviously only McKenna really knows what McKenna was talking about, but my interpretation for some time has been that what he cared about was specifically the information-bearing "gaian mind" or "higher dimensional" naturalistic and -- very much content-driven -- mode of the experience this is quite different from serene meditative states
