Pardon my somewhat mindless post here people.( i know, what discerns this from all my others ) The real question here is.....what one song/piece of music(yes, it could be an entire side of Keith Jarrett/Miles Davis) picks you up by the seat of your scruff and gives you the inspirtion to carry on even when times are going bad?
My own nomination (of course) is "walking on sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves(circa 1982/83)......yes, it really HAS been that long since i've heard a song that lifted me up to that xtent........
pls DL it from wherever, have a listen and tell me that doesn't put a smile on your face! No diminished minor 7th arppegios or nuttin',just a really uplifting piece of music( i will not even attempt to get into the ultimate fallacy, imho, of her hopes/desires).......
.......question being(outside of how duz Freak manage to type being in sch a wasted state)......what songs really lift YOU up.......get you ready to face even the most demanding vissisitudes that life can(and often does) throw in your face?
Btw, to anyone i didn't personally PM, i would like to tke this opportunity to genuinely wish each and every last one of you the most prosperous(spiritually for sure, and finacially i guess) thwe most amazing of New Years.......

I have many anthems but that one is high on the list!
The music is really good that goes with it too! It is fast-paced and parts are a little rappish. Great stuff. I have heard of your song and heard good things about it.

so many songs could apply here, but the one I thought of first tonight was the song "maybe just once" by NIN.
can't believe that what i feel is really happening to me.

and point the finger at my insecurities.
well i guess i just don't understand about those complexities in your mind.

For soome strange reason, Ripple, i feel as though i am seeing/feeling those lyrics/words for the first time....i mean i didn't just categorize/compartmentalize and say..."oh yeah, those are the lyrics to box of rain" type thing.....i don't know if that(or I) makes any kind of sense......thankyou for sharing........

311 has been putting me in an optimistic upbeat mood lately. Most of the songs off of 'From Chaos', especially Amber and I'll Be Here Awhile.
Tool also inspires individual strength, reminds me how epic and divine my and everyone elses feelings are. (well Opiate and Undertow seem to be more of rant albums, but ?nima and Lateralus are really optimistic) songs: Triad, Parabol/Parabola, Lateralus, Stinkfist, 46&2, ?nima, and Third Eye, these really get me up there and give me strength as opposed to just trippin me out.
Incubus and Vida Blue give me really good vibes too. Science and Make Yourself are constant 'be independent' love pumping albums. And Vida Blue is just one beautiful groove. Makes me think of old guys who have been very happy all their lives.

hahahah rollergirl... i think shakira would do better right there
i have to agree with postanaldrip... the warmth totally lifts any mood... any song form "make yourself" can do... and any song from "lateralus" esp. parabol/parabola, the patient and lateralus itself...
and "everybody hurts" lets everything flow... a beatiful song to cry your tears out and vent...
but my personal favorite would be a song by blind melon:
