hehe, umm...

Just for the records... "species" or "genus" would really need to be used here instead of a strain. Strain is the variation of a species...

It really depends on where you are in America, there are a lot of different terrians here.

Also, are you asking what the most common active mushroom is, or just mushrooms in general.

For my area I would have to say that the most common mushroom will fall under the Mycena genus... The active shroom would be the Panaeolus subbalteatus.

The most common really would depend on where you live. For actives in general the most common would be Subbalteatus, Ps. Cubensis, Pan. cyanescens, Ps. cyanescens.... maybe liberty cap.

Maybe someone could give you a more detailed response.

Holy shit Angry, you read my mind. I wrote a big long post out about taxonomy and how the most common mushroom will vary depending on where in the country you're looking and what habitats you're looking in... then IE crashed and I lost the whole damn thing.

Anyway, yeah. Angry is right. You want to be asking about species or genus. Strain is really something that the drug culture(pot and shroom growers) has made up. The term "strain" doesn't have much scientific value.

The most common species in the USA are situated by locations. The Southeast and the Pacific Northwest. There are more than 18 specis of magic mushrooms in the United States of America

P. cubensis (Texas to Florida nporth to S. Carolina),
P. semilanceata (libety cap, PNW, USA),
Panaeolus subbalteatus(Throughout most of the USA)
Panaeolus cyanescens (Southeast USA),

Seattle Washington has at least 18 of the 18 known species. I would like to point out that there are sevral variations of Copelandia cyanescns. Both Paul Stamets and I have seen them here in Washington State at least five times in twenty years and never more than four or five specimens.

But that shroom sometimes appears but is rather rare int he PNW but is the second common shroom in FLorida collected for its psychoactive properties.

mj

MJ's post raises a good question: do you mean the most common psilocybian mushroom, or the most common mushroom period? if you meant psilocybian mushroom, i'd bet either cubensis or semies, thought they will still only be found within thier own ranges.

--------------------

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I believe the most common mushroom is the Cubensis. Hunting them can be hard in the northern states. Try looking in sterilite and rubbermade containers around closets, back rooms, and the like. Modified humidifiers are a strong clue you are getting close.

Yeah, people with an attitude like that really make me angry. Especially me, Angryshroom. hehe.

Go somewhere else if you do not like mushrooms as a whole.

Your ignorance is mind blowing.

Have fun at your cannabis culture forums.

Oh, don't be too supprised if you get banned for some reason or another.

Have a nice day.
