 Quebecensis Potency?

Hi everyone. I have read whatever I could find about the Psilocybe Quebecensis mushroom. There is very little information about it. I checked out Ryche's site, as he said that someone sent him a print, to no avail. Can anyone comment on its potency? If I am not mistaken, it's a woodloving mushroom, and if I'm still not mistaken, woodlovers are usually more potent. Has anyone tried the Quebecensis? Also, how big is it? Does it blue a lot?

P. quebecensis is in the known to be active list
Have you searched here? i saw something about them in
the news forum a while back.
Edit| cant find anything on them really  apart from
theve been found in Canada

Hi deanofmean. Quebecensis is a Psilocybe species that grows in Quebec. I believe it's a woodlover. There doesn't seem to be much info on this one however.

LOL  I haven't heard of this. I guess you are living in France and that is how Cubensis is spelled or something.   I might be wrong though.

Psilocybe quebecensis was found and discovered by Gyory-Miklos Ola'h in Mount Royale in Montreal, Quebec Canada. Remember that France is not the only country where people speak French and no it is not a French name for P. cubensis. Which was found in Cuba and then later a few years after in Viet-Nam.
anyway it is rare and appears in man-made gardens with certain klinds of bark or wood-chips. Remember that mushrooms are rare in the natural habitats and do exteremely well in man-made environments.

hi MJ. Any word on the potency of Quebecensis? Also, is it large? And finally, am I correct in assuming that in general woodlovers are more potent? I guess that would be incorrect, as pan cyans are potent but aren't woodlovers, as far as I understand :-)

I wanted to post a similar question about Psilocybe quebecensis...
I never saw one (pic or real). I checked the "herbarium" of the mycological club where I belong to and nothing... (they cover a big region of Quebec)

Hi Megaman3,
P. quebecensis are similar macroscopically and reltaed to directly, Psilocybe baeocystis.
Dosage is currently unknown I do have several papers on it and the chemical analysis. I will look them up for you and scanned them here in a few days inthis very post so you can read on it.
And Moorhsum, alder are the preferred chips in the PNW for wood-loving species (>P. cyanescens, P. baeocystis, P. azurescens, P. cyanofibrillosa, P. stuntzii and P. fimetaria, and others..
Eucalptus in Australia is the preferred woodchips and mulch for P. australiana, P. suvbaeruginosa, P. eucalypta, P. tasmaniana, etc.
Differnet species love different habitats. many species love manured soil buit do not grow directly from manure, such as liberty caps, P. strictipes, and the
there are manured shrooms, Psilocybe, Copelandia and panaeolus.
Conocybes love Sphaghum Moss
and Panaeolus subbalteatus not only loves direct manure sybiosis but also is found in rotted hay, compost heaps, haystacks and in soil under mulch .

Hi MushMushi. Are those psilocybe species that you listed all from Quebec? Is there any indication as to which are active? About the hunting together, you're a bit far from me I believe. Like 2 hours by car hehe. By the time you'd get here they would become fetid masses of soggy tissue :-)

Thanks for the post MJ. I'm looking forward to the paper you will scan for me. Where do you obtain all these papers? The internet is garbage when it comes to lesser known [aka lesser abused ;-) ] species, such as Quebecensis. It's disappointing to see so many pothead magazines but not a single one dedicated to psilocybin.

Both of the papers are in French. One is five pages and the other is over 16 pages. Too much to scan. I will figure out how to get these to you as soon as possible. Maybe an email, But I would still have to san and then Ica n only send a few images each email.

Tasmaniana was described by Guzman as a dung-loving species (coprophilic) and not a ligious species.
Secondly Chang and Mills examined type specimens of the this mushroom and found no branched cystidia.
It has been demonstrated that ps.Australiana and ps.Tasmaniana are subordinate variations of Ps.Subaeruginosa.
