Need PF Tek advice: bruising, small pins...etc (pics)
    #12276011 - 03/26/10 11:08 AM (13 years, 11 months ago)

Can you guys see anything wrong with my setup? 2 PF Tek cakes with perlite & misting/fanning 4-6 times a day. 12/12 lighting with blue LED's, which is also my heating source. The clear tube is from a fish tank pump from the outside. There are only a couple of holes in the terrarium which is enclosed in another terrarium and covered with a blanket.

This is about the 5th day since they've been birthed. Recently I noticed bruising, which I dunno what is causing it. So far, I am worried that I will get a crappy flush. Am I getting enough air exchange? Am I being impatient?

Thanks.

Would it be a good idea to use a humidifier in conjunction with the perlite?

What strain is that, out of curiosity?  Some are prone to going mega blue like that, and in my experience always end up being freaky potent.

I have never had strain affect the amount of busing to the cakes.

They are dry looking and the pins look like they lack FAE

About an inch in a half, its a small terrarium. The cakes are pints. Is that insufficient?

Alright so I need more fresh air and humidity. Would I be able to use a humidifier to mitigate these problems?

I may be being dense, but it looks like you're trying to combine several fruiting chamber teks here and you may be suffering for it.If you've got perlite,do a proper shotgun-3"-5" at the bottom,1/4" holes drilled in all six sides 2" apart, especialy on the bottom and keep it raised slightly. mist / fan regularly.

What's the pump for..?

Also, pint cakes are generally a poor choice. Half pints,or go grain for bulk grows.

with that bruising,I'd say your cakes are dehydrated.Same for the small pins-the cake doesn't have enough water to grow them.
Take them out,put them in a saucer of water for a few hours and use that time to sort your fc out.

You should be using 1/2 pt cakes.
You should have 4-5 inches of perlite in your chamber.
Your FC needs waaaay more holes, for proper FAE, on every side, including the top and bottom.
Your RH is 65%, waaaaayyyyy too low. it should be 95%+ at least.
Your cakes look super dried out and it looks like almost no verm stuck during your roll.

This time you probably wont get a whole lot out of this, next time, make sure you follow the PF tek to the letter.

Eek, you're right! That's even worse!

OP; Get a hygrometer!!!!!

Edit: Get an analog one, not digital. Digital are unreliable at near 100% RH.

lol, ok. It was kind of shoddily done for the sake of stealth and time constraints. I'll see what I can do to salvage this grow.

Thanks

Why are you suffocating your cakes?  Fresh air is the number ONE pinning trigger.  Make a proper terrarium.
