cutting cakes in half and putting them on casing?
    #1226110 - 01/17/03 08:21 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

I want to cut my verm and brf cakes in half and put them on casing, will this work? It seems like the mycelium would easily spread from the cake to the casing. What is the best way to do this? I'm thinking steralize a work space and a sharp knife. Slice the cake in half and place the two pieces on the casing..probably with the uncolonized side face up, but it seems like it would work the other way as well. What mixture of casing, and should I steralize the casing are other questions I have. Thanks for the help!

casing on cakes, not cakes on casing.

i had luck laying down a 1/2 inch layer of 50/50+, then cakes cut in half with pieces broken off to fill the voids, then 1/2 - 3/4 inch casing layer on top.

but start here:

Uncolonized what, cake? If so you'll grow nothing but green mold, or pink, or whatever contam gets to it first.

I don't really understand at all what you are proposing to do. If you are thinking of cutting a cake in half and placing it on casing soil, sure it would work, but why do it? Why not just case the cakes? Please explain more thoroughly.

Never mind, I didn't really read up on casing enough, I'm just going to do that. What is the 50/50 mixture made out of?
