i find it helpful to remove the top layer of casing and then re-casing with fresh material.
seems to bring on the next flush faster.

10-4, Hip is right, some means needs to be introduced to get back h20 in cake, whether straws or casing? I contemplated straws, but i think the better deal is crumbling and then casing w/jiffy mix/verm. mixture?? Yields have been proven to be more productive using this method..GoodLuck!

i generally notice new pins the day i pick the mature ones. i usally dont recase till the 3-4 flush. Once there is about 1/2 inch of space on the sides of the casing is when i do it.

I usually give the casing layer a few fine mist's with the spray bottle after each flush. Usually I see new pinns the next 2-3 days. Dont overkill on the misting though. Actually over spraying can cause aborts.
