Its called altered states. It is insane, so much in it, and it makes sense. Just go rent it, its old and crazy and all about evolution and trippin.

PAddy Cheyefsky wrote Altered States and then later split company with the movie version and claimed they ruined his story.

I lked the book very much. Cheyefksy really researched his Sensory Deprivation field but did little to investigate the drugs which he used as the catalyst to put the user into the ultimate primal perspecitive.

First off, He researched this at Harvard University for the Deprivation arguments of his novella but failed to conduct any drug research at all, expecially at Harvard where the first DRUG Research in AMerica became world famous due to Timothy Leary and others at harvard, Peyote, Marijuana, Mushrooms and LSD eventually became world famous.

Now what is irritating is the fact that in ALtered aStates, Amanita mushrooms are the suggested mushroom mixed with siniguchi (a memory expansion drug) and others not so well named.

This is interesting because the Indians of Mexico use Psilocybe mushrooms, not Amanitas as suggested in this tale.

WHy did Cheyefsky fail to research the drugs for his novel as well as he did for Senspory Deprivation.

ANyway it was still pretty cool to watch this on acid years ago. I first becaame aware of this book in the Jacksonville, Florida Public Library where I also found a copy of Paul Stamets The Mushroom Cultivator.

In Florida. Can you image that>

I saw a Movie Magic show where they demonstrated the FX of the movie. It wasn't as creepy after that

Yeah I saw it years ago, I was about 10.  We recently re-rented the movie and I about fell out when I realized Amanitas played a bit roll in the film. Considering we had been experimenting w/ Amanitas over the last few months it was a pleasant surprise when revisiting this movie.
