I wonder how the people of Haiti or some other desperate nation would feel if they were offered health care. This kind of talk is typical amongst over-priveleged under-experienced Caucasians on the shroomery. Sorry but the truth must be told, if my assumption is wrong, whatever.

oh yeah... and I'm over 40
gonz, it's likely that this shit will be shot down, those that believe their employers will be providing this insurance, they're wrong, it will be showing up as deductions from their paychecks and through price increases in goods and services provided where insurance may have been a $350 deduction previously, it'll now be a $400 deduction because those without now have to have as well, including the unemployed
now, just be aware that socialized medicine in the US is the single biggest expenditure in our budget by more than $100bn, it exceeds our military spending and even though we pay for it now, we also pay for it after we die

I'd just rather take care of them when they come up, if they do, instead of paying money I don't have to spare on the chance that someday life might happen. Apart from an ER visit I doubt I'll ever be in a hopital or go to a doctor. It doesn't bother me if others think it's a stupid choice, it just bothers me that they're trying to take my choices away.
So if you have an accident, would it be cool if the hospital chose not to see you. Because you didn't have enough money in the bank?

Your asking them to front you the money?
Do you think they should check your credit first before they give you health care?
Because that would determine if you were actually going to pay them back....then they could send you away if your credit score wasn't a 700.

One thing it might do is get me a pay increase. Insurance pretty much doesn't pay for ambulance rides (unless you get pre approval from your insurance company cause that's the first thing your thinking) ends up being like only 1 in 8 pays. I'm hoping this number goes up and so does my pay. More then likely not since it is a private company. I once got yelled at for forgetting to charge someone one a blanket

If I'm not dying I wouldn't want to go anyway. That honestly doesn't bother me.

Personally i think it all revolves around putting a price on a human life. When people want to live they will do drastic things and spend a lot of money. Which they may not have and will eventually bankrupt there entire family.
capitalism = only the strong survive.
Im fine with those values in everyday products. Cars, hookers, beer shrooms whatever.
but when it comes to education, healthcare, the law, im down with the socialism...people should not profit off of the sick and dieing.

no, the only thing that can save us is taking back control of our government, weed will never be legal until we make that step

would it be cool if you had an accident and the hospital chose not to see you because the government has a history of not paying the bills, it's already happening with medicare, has been for years, many doctors and pharmacies refuse medicare patients... again, it's nearly $1trillion that we;re paying in for a small percentage of the people to have free health care already and the doctors are not honoring it
what's gonna happen with the new bill when government isnt honoring any insurance because the government still isnt paying

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what "says" we don't have control over our government and how can we get it back?
I definitely don't think "the people" have COMPLETE control of the government, but ultimately democracy is democracy. "We" vote people into office and they represent us (albeit not always very well and assuming the elections aren't totally bogus).
By all means, a person lobbying marijuana reform to get people to vote for said person and then completely ignoring the issue when in office, is not good example of democracy.
Does anyone get what I'm saying, or am I just a dumbass?

it has to be spelled out for people, they always whine that they have no control in what's going on and believe they can do nothing about it, all the while refusing to vote or voting for the same fuckheads in power
