Copy format.com from c:\windows\sytem onto a floppy. Boot to command prompt using F8 during boot. From the a:\ type format c: then hit enter.

Before doing any of that..Make sure you have a start up disk on floppy..Otherwise your CD drive won't work!! I imagine that you have your windows software on a CD,right?

I think if you go to the add/remove programs properties there is a startup disk tab where you can create a startup disk. I'm not positive but if you just f8 to a comand prompt aren't you using comamd.com from the windows dir and therfore will not be able to format c: because it will be in use?
Anyway this should answer.

After you create a startup disk, be sure to copy anything you need/want out of the commands directory... things like edit are always nice to have... Also, if you need to reset your master boot record, something which format doesn't do, use the mostly undocumented 'fdisk /mbr' command.
