because your argument is "Well if it was good enough for the founding fathers..."
my point was that the founding fathers were not all knowing and so just because they engaged in some activity doesn't make it right.

people 5000 years ago were pretty stupid, they had no sense of hygiene and didn't know much about the world at all.
Saying something is good because a lot of people use it doesn't make sense.

I live in a community that has become surrounded by fields of hemp over that last few years, smells so good driving down the old highway into town. It's legal to grow in Canada but its only a niche market, though business has been slowly expanding. It really is amazing how many products can come from a single plant... what a gift. Anyways, I believe hemp was outlawed by the petrochemical industry to eliminate the competition, which created a whole other insane money making machine in the war on drugs. It really is the perfect solution for our leaders, it keeps the people down and keeps their profits rolling. And since industry and government leaders keep spinning through the 'revolving doors', meaning they are one and the same, we wont see drastic changes anytime soon!

in the US no one but the citizens and congress can outlaw anything, just as we are the ones that can get prohibition repealed, we have dozens of organization working against each other to achieve their own respective goals instead of working together to repeal prohibition
it's up to all of us to get on the asses of groups like NORML, MPP and whom ever else to get this shit on the ballot, millions of people donate millions more dollars to these outfits and now it's time to make them earn their keep... do you really think they're pushing? no, that would put them out of business and lose them their fat paychecks
everyone should contact their elected reps, the marijuana orgs and their friends and ask them to all do the same, get a prohibition repeal referendum on the ballots in november, same goes for those in canada if their system allows for the citizens to vote to repeal unjust laws
I will guarantee that if a marijuana initiative were on the ballots, you'd see record turnouts to register and to vote if only for that one issue and I guarantee that vote would show more than 70% in favor since people that dont normally vote wont show to vote it down

Damn Straight Gonz!
I heard Jesse Ventura on the Radio today and at least he was backing hemp. He even said that the constitution was written on it and we need to legalize it.
