Anyone knows if UK customs check ALL international mail with scanners/sniff dogs or only ones from Holland?

I don't think they check everything, if it just comes as an ordinary letter, I can't imagine they have the time.
Larger parcels, maybe, but they will have customs slips anyway.
I got my print from FSRE over to the UK no problems, it looked and felt like any other letter.
Also, I've ferry'd from Holland to Harwich plenty of times and never actually encountered any security / sniffer dogs (I got the ferry that comes in late at night). I could have been carrying a suitcase full of weed and would have had no problems (Not that I would, just incase lol)
But if they aren't policing the ports, I don't think they'd be overly paranoid about mail from holland in particular.

I've always come back in the evening (I think they get in about 9/10?) so the ones that sail throughout the day. I've never come back from there on the overnight one, so I can't say what it's like - but I've gone out there on it, and it always seems busier on the overnight ferry, so I guess they would be more cautious about that one. I think I've come back on the ferry 6 times, and never encountered any security between buying a ticket in Rotterdam and stepping on the train in the UK.
And yeah, the Ferry is pretty sweet. Last time I did it, I paid £14, and it's so much less hassle than a plane.
Though saying that, I have never tried bringing anything back, I guess I'm just afraid that I'll be there the day they strip-search everybody who turns up.
If you're actually planning on bringing something through Harwich, you can actually see the security station from the ferry - you have to walk through it even if nobody is there - if you see dogs, stay on the ferry and dump your shit in the toilets, and try again next time. Also, try and blend in, if you've ever been on that ferry, there's always more than a few hippy types smoking a joint outside on the deck on the way back, without sounding judgmental, I would imagine security is.

Booking for this time next month, £29 each way
You're required to get a cabin on an overnight crossing, so just get the day one

Tiny percentage of post gets checked, there's no possible way they could begin to check all of it. Read up how smells permeate materials (they get through anything, just matter of timing). Depends who is sending it, you thinking of sending stuff to yourself while you're there I take it? I have a friend who sends oz's all the time, into and out of UK. Don't think he's ever had an interception. Or you could buy a florists truck and just fill it up like the guys who got busted this week..
