What makes a question dumb? (About Substrate)

My friend and I made up some substrate following a normal PF Tek last night, filled a dozen jars, put lids on the things, then got so stoned that we had no motivation to go all the way upstairs and sterilize the things.

So the question is: how long can you leave substrate in the jars (holes in the lid, etc...) before you have to worry about sterilization being less effective?
Normal pot on stove boiling sterilization is the best we got right now, no pressure cooker.

24 - 48 hours, any longer and you may as well chuck'em

I dont know if they will still be ok or not, but dude, if you want to have success at cultivation get more serious about your shit. Smoke when you're done, its much more rewarding  :smirk:

I agree, you should try to PC those jars ASAP or stand a good chance of getting contams.    :frown:

I don't mean to be un-serious about the matter, it's just that RIGHT after we made the jars up, I had to go for supper with my mom. When I got back, my friends mom had gone to sleep, and her bedroom is right beside the kitchen =/. So we decided it would be in our best interest to smoke alot of pot and really ponder what we should do that would be in our best interest...

I'll try and wake his ass up and get them sterilized asap though.

My thinking was along the lines of: Jars have contams in them. This is why you PC them, to sterilize them so the contams don't grow and take over the jars. Even if the contams were to let's say, colonize the ENTIRE jar over a period of a few days, would PC'ing them kill off the contam culture? One would assume that yes. If PC's sterilize the jars by killing bacteria, then the amount shouldn't make a difference.

Hmmm, colonize, sterilize, colonize, sterilize... I wonder if the psilocin content would go up =)

i loaded 36 pf tek jars with substrate and then waited 4 days before attempting to sterilize....i was overwhelmed by the stench, and had to start over...
luckily, the second time I got all 36 jars sterilized and never got one contam..
