Tripping in the cold; A dilemma
    #1219625 - 01/15/03 01:12 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

I really want to spend my trip outside, like in the woods or at the beach, BUT it is pretty cold up here (maine)... Like 10-20 degrees usually during the day.

I think it would still be fun if I bundled up good, but I'm afraid after like an hour outside, I would REALLY want to chill out in a warm place and I wouldn't be able to, unless I wanted to come in contact with people which I don't.

Does the cold affect your trip negatively? Is a warm environment far more enjoyable?
I dropped acid in a snow storm once but I really don't remember much of it.

The more and more I think about it, the worse of an idea it sounds... I think I'll just chill in my room, and save the nature trips for springtime.

IMO....tripping outside during the winter is one of the best.  (Not that spring/summer isn't), but the last time I tripped in the winter it was snowing pretty bad and it was awesome.  The light from the sky and the streetlights all reflected off of the snow...  Now I wasn't just sitting outside, I actually had to brush the snow off of my windshield and windows.  However, the small amount of time I was out there it was a trip...

...I'm a winter guy and love being outdoors during the chilling season.  Try it, you may like it, you may not.  I am awaiting my shrooms to fruit so that I can go snowboarding up in the mountains, gonna be really cool.

I am planning a trip next week and the temperature around here is -36?C It is not bad, but like you said you have to dressup very warm and don't forget to listen to your mother " Make sure you wear your gloves and scarf!". Those gloves with the strings tied to each other so you don't lose them would be a good idea just incase you lose your first pair. It really sucks to be caught off guard in the middle of a field in winter tripping like a mofo without proper clothing. Have a good one!

one of my (and loop's) favorite winter trips is to eat em, drive out in the middle of nowhere, bring a bunch of good music, a shitload of firewood, make a huge fire, blast the music, and run around in the forest (being the backwoods new hampshire hicks that we were...) the fire was a good focal point if we ever got weirded out (plus the warmth) and the music served its own purpose. we probably pissed off a few hibernating animals, but on a brisk winter nite when the moon is full, the sky is clear and yr peaking... DAMN. it feels really good to be alive then... i probably enjoy, on the whole, cold-weather tripping more than warm. its easier to control your comfortability in my opinion... you should do it at least once, and i guarantee that if yr not flying solo, youll enjoy it a lot more...

BE FUCKING CAREFUL.

I remember a while back I read a trip report here about somebody who's friend died out in the snow on mushrooms :frown:

I'd say go for it, but have a backup. Whenever you plan on tripping in a situation that you think might become uncomfortable, you should have a backup. Some place you can go to and chill out if necessary.

If you do plan to trip in the cold, find some place neat, and bundle up!

Yeah, I like tripping outside in the cold. It's refreshing. In the winter, it's a whole new 'change' of scene. It's very trippy.

I also read that one.Where they drove to the park right...Anyways i'd say if you are taking a dose that you know you can handle then go for it.

I agree 100%

Always have a way to get out of the cold and wet completely when youre dealing with something like this... From personal experience just being out in that cold could turn ugly quick. I fucking hate the cold, tripping just makes it worse.

If it sounds like a bad idea, it probably is.

A friend and I just got shrooms for the first time in months, and we are waiting until his parents leave on vacation so we can have a house to do them at. I wouldn't want to ruin shrooms by being uncomfortable and freezing my ass off.

Maybe being able to go outside during the trip could be cool, but like someone else said, definitely make sure you have a back-up and are able to go inside if you are having a nasty time out in the cold.

I'm going to be tripping today, and its 7 degrees.

Luckily my friend and I have a house that we will be able to take refuge in from the cold, but we will be venturing outside for the occasional clove or cig.  I imagine outside will be near torturous, although at least its a sunny day so we can pretend we're warm.
