shrooms in kodaikanal?
    #1222989 - 01/16/03 07:51 AM (18 years, 1 month ago)

i'm currently in south india and plan to visit kodaikanal (tamil nadu) in the near future. i searched on the location in and out of the shroomery and (predictably) little of substance turned up. i'm looking for any info on specifically which (magic)mushrooms grow there, season, "areas" for picking, dosages, etc. etc.
i got this from a german website:

"P. indica together with P. cubensis, P. pseudoaztecorum and P. aztecorum var. bonetii (Natarajan & Raman, 1983; 1985) from India are the only four fungi with psychotropic propierties known from that country."

i have seen (and tried) one batch while in goa. i know practically nothing regarding identification, all i could say of these was that they looked pretty much like liberty caps; the only other psilocibines that i've actually tried. the dealer told me though, that the shrooms were from kodaikanal.
this reminded me of a websight which i'd come across a while back while looking for info on india. up until then i'd figured the guy was either bullshitting or regurgitating some chinese whisper about soma, but he also claimed to have picked mushrooms while in kodai.
have to go now, but any help regarding kodaikanal or anywhere else in india is appreciated.

cheers

There are actually numerous shrooms from India including 6 species of Hypholoma, liberty caps, cubensis and even Panaeolus subbalteatus.

The other two species noted above include only one species not from India. The P. aztecorum var. Boneti is not from India. HEre is a list of the species reported from India.
