check out my terrerium

well what do you think? are the jars (soon to be cakes) too close together? they are 250 ml jars. i am thinking of putting a rack in soi can have another row. is that a good idea?

i am using the pf tek verm and brf. but what results would i get from using brouwn rice instead of brown rice flower.

looks great (might wanna block the light unless that is in an otherwise dark area). the xtra rack sounds like a go to me. personally I stack all my jars together in a rubbermaid and set my temp at 82 and the close proximity helps the mycelium generate the extra 4 or so degrees. that is justan idea if you really want to pack some jars in there.

what about during fruiting how much space should i have?

i hopw you don't plan to fruit in your incubation chamber unless you like tearing stuff down and cleaning and starting over practically from scratch again. fruiting space between cakes is pretty subjective based on how much airflow you want in your chamber and how much the guys stray out from the sides. many times you have to relocate them around once they start growing cuz they bump into each other/walls and topple. for just pinning cakes I'd say roughly 2.5-3 inches clearance between each cake.

You could always place the cakes close to each other so they grow in to each other...basically, a big ass cake. But if that's not your goal, give them a couple inches between cakes.

yeah, your mushrooms WILL BE touching each other, if you leave the cakes so close together. as long as they don't topple over or touch the walls and get wet from water drops, i wouldn't worry about it too much. i have my cakes that close together too and they're fine.

that verm you put on the bottom of the jar caps under your cakes, is that moist or dry also did you bother to pasturize it?

there is nothing in the jars and that is perlite on the bottem of the tank.
