I love em..but mainly a particular type....the ones with black hair with the bangs and lots of tattoos. Thick glasses, heavy eyeshadow, cherry earrings...maybe throw a couple of purple or red streaks in the hair. Put her in a tight gingham with a corset.
Im a sucker for girls that look like that but I never voice that interest.
Bonus points if her occupation is one of the following: pastry chef, tattoo artist, autobody worker.

Scene/hipster are basically the same thing as far as I'm concerned. Though hipsters usually listen to a lot of bad indie music and scene seems closer to the emo side of the spectrum.

This thread is mostly just scene girls with goofy bangs or a slight rockabilly influence in the way they dress.

Scene: Its like a combo between Hot Topic's inventory, glam rock and hipsters. Tight pants, hair metal layered hair with candy kid colors, hello kitty, tight pants and whatever can be found at the mall and worn all at once.

Hipster: Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie (stores) are the hunting ground for the hipster. To generalize, they think they're the shit because they listen to cool indie no one else knows about, they were 'retro' inspired clothes, the girls are often pretty classy looking and the guys look like clean cut versions of the hippies. They think its cool to be involved in activism, listen to bluegrass, shop at Whole Foods and basically follow the "hip" trends hence hipster.

They pretty much all have either a poofy hair style, or baby bangs a la Betty Paige. Generally they are into old cars, vintage clothes, vintange inspired makeup, psychobilly and rockabilly, polka dots, cherries, red, and heels.

Punk: Like scene chicks I guess but edgier and sometimes more politically motivated. Theres a bunch of different sub-categories of punk so that one is hard to get into.

traditionally Rockabilly is a music style
a mixture of rock and roll and country (think johny cash or elvis)

the more modern version is based off the whole 1950's pinup/greaser look
musically it's much closer to punk rock with stand up bass'
and if you also incorporate punk into the appearance you wind up with psychobilly
