ive been at my house almost two years, the past few months we have been getting letters from probation in the mail and RTSing them, today someone was taking pics of the house so we followed them, they stopped and we confronted them, they said they are probation and are looking for some random person ive never heard of and are threatning a search, we said never heard of em and they cant violate our rights looking for someone we have never heard of. we got home and called the probation dept and talked to a super who said the same thing, can they come in my house?, really? that doesnt seem right. thanks for your knowledgeble help

If so, that's extremely fucked up. They are usually hard ass pricks so IDK. Maybe you can file a police report and claim harassment and cut them off at the pass.

They can go wherever they want as long as it's public property.
Parole/probation officers are mandated to tell you who they are looking for. If you tell them that person does not live there and that you are the owner of the house/signatory on the lease they will leave.

That sucks that a shady guy used your address, however you want to make it CLEAR he does not live there. last thing you need is cops barging down the door or putting you on surveillance looking for this guy. Big issue though is a bounty hunter. they can come in without warrants and such if thats the address the guy put on his bail.
Legally, without any sort of warrant they can do this?
I think I'd beat someone with a bat if they did that to me. Straight up.
First of all, get the police involved, file a report and go from there.

depending on your state, yes bounty hunters can enter the property belonging to their suspect without warrant. they can also enter under false pretenses like the UPS guy or what not. They can do this to the guy they are chasing because when he signs the bail bond paper work he consents to this (if he misses court)

Entering my house without knocking is a sure fire way for me to pull me gun out and start opening fire..
