I had no idea train accidents were so common in EU though - that's pretty weird.

I don't know how often they occur throughout the EU, but in my densely populated country, they're a pretty common occurrence. Mostly due to suicide.

If someone "accidentally" gets hit by a train, the gene pool is better as a result.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

And waiting till we got to move again, which took about 2 hrs.

When I was 10 years old or so I was on a train with my father going from central CA to southern CA (about 6 or 8 hr trip, I think).  Well the train hit someone (suicide, no doubt), but I wasn't quite sure what was going on...  I couldn't get my father to tell me why we had stopped, and the other passengers seemed upset, some confused.  Anyway, he is not the most patient person, so he grabbed our bags and opened the emergency exit, the whole time i was like "wait, what are we doing?  Are we allowed to get off this way?"  He jumped down and insisted I come over so he could lift me off the train, then he rushed me away from the train really quick.  He finally explained what happened, and it turned out his wife was near by, so she picked us up.  It was weird.

I wonder if it was premeditated or just like a "think fast!"  moment.  If it were the later it must have sucked for the guy.

I imagine it sucked more for the girl...

Yeah, this used to happen a lot around here as well, but I guess they lock the exits these days. Especially in a high-speed accident, I suppose getting out of the train could land your feet in a warm and squishy pile of guts, so it wouldn't be my preferred option.
