Hydrating while colonizing
    #1220874 - 01/15/03 11:21 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

I was experimenting to find the right water content for my rye berry and i now have 4 jars of amazingly about 50% or so colonized substrate. I have a feeling that they are close to stalling due to such a low water content. I know you can add water to verm when doing the pf tek, but i was wondering if i could do this with rye berry. I was thinking that the rye would just not soak it up and i would wind up with a puddle in the bottom of my jar. I am incubating at a constant 84-85*F
if that might help the cause. Thanks in advance.

Boil some water for about ten minutes and draw it up in to a sterile syringe to cool down. Once it's cool, try adding about 2 cc's of water to each jar, and shake it up. It can't hurt to try.
You'll probably end up just needing to start over if they're too dry. But be patient, because colonization can take a while sometimes.

Just walk beside me and be a friend.
