Some TRICH! 4th flush, mid flush.
    #12202291 - 03/14/10 06:53 PM (13 years, 11 months ago)

I had a rapid trich mycellium spread over night on my mini mono. The trich has NOT spored yet (turned green) but I am assuming the entire thing is still at risk and I should move it out of my house asap. Now if I put it in my basement or outside will the cold temps stop it from fruiting? 40-50f is the temp.

or could I seal it inside of a bag and keep it in the house sealed for a few days then take it outside and remove the fruits? This thing only needs a few days to fully fruit so

I wouldn't harvest fruits from a trich infested mono. Even if it hasn't sporulated yet; the mushroom mycelium can feed toxins from the trich to the mushrooms. If you are sure it's trich I would throw it away right as soon as possible.

im not sure its trich, i am sure its a contam. my guess is trich.

whats the worst that can happen from a little trich anyway? I was under the impression trich was a very common mold.

I will be eating these and I am not afraid of the shits.

I poured salt over the mycellium for the time being, waiting on more replies before I act.

Harvest and toss the sub asap. Speaking from personal experience, if you let it sporulate it can cause trouble for you on future grows.

You really shouldn't be going for a fourth flush anyway.  You'll get 80% of total product on the first two flushes.  At that time, have a fresh substrate fully colonized and ready to go.  This makes more efficient use of your fruiting chamber.  Spent substrates can be buried in a manure or compost pile outdoors and will often fruit again later.

Take it outside, far from your house, and bury it. Idk if there's any truth behind it, but I always liked to pretend that I was increasing the chances of wild shroom growth that way. I do the same thing with LC if I find I've made too much.

harvest right away, you can eat shrooms that are grown on infected subs, but as soon as the trich gets a strong hold of it, your fruit body formation will suffer imensly and eventually wont get any more fruitbodies.
