some newbie questions
    #1219653 - 01/15/03 01:29 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

I'm trying for first time using the pf-tek i think my jars are almost fully colonized 2 of them already have pins but there is a a very small uncolonized area on the bottom
in all the photos i've seen the cakes where all white in mine mycelium and vermiculite are kind of mixed i've used very thin vermiculite the only i managed to find in local stores is this a prob cause there is no more colonization there
The mycelium paused colonization so i tried to turn the cakes upside down from then the mycelium that is growing looks more fuzzy coud it be cobweb ?
but it doesent grow on colonized areas only on the uncolonized bottom that now has no pressure and continues from where the mycelium before the pause stops
(sorry for my poor english)
thank you all that's my first post

if they have stalled u could open em, scrap off the uncolonized part and birth em, or case or watever u were gunna do. basically when u open em u will tell if they are ok cause the smell will be ur best indicator. it may be cobweb but i doubt it. cobweb grows very fast. people say its fuzzy but i think a better description would be hairy looking.once u see cobweb it will fully take over the cake in 1 day or 2 in my experience. Good luck hopefully u are ok.
Peace
