casing cakes from terrarium
    #1219380 - 01/14/03 10:03 PM (14 years, 1 month ago)

This dude i know has 6 cakes, they have been in his terrarium for 3 days and still no pins. This dude also has a casing fruiting. Since he has seen the potential of casing he was wondering, if he could just case the cakes from the terraium? (they are all fluffy)would that be a problem?

I think the norm for seeing pins is something like 5 to 9 days.. I've seen cakes that took closer to 2 weeks to pin.  You gotta remember when growing mushrooms or anything else for that matter: Mother nature is really at the Helm, All your doing is giving her a comfortable place to work.  Mother nature is very old and wise, she doesn't take well to rushing or proding.. she knows what she's doing

he has already tried casing a cake, and its not because he is impatient, its because he is thinking that he might get better yields off a casing. If he decides to wait and case them after their first flush, will the casing then  still produce a decent yield?
(its his first grow, and he is thinking about skipping the cakes, hes had one cake fruit)
he really appreciates your replys

You would not want to case a cake that has pins...simply because the pins will rot and contam your casing. My first grow too, and i could have pulled off a casing..i was super excited about it, until i got invitro pins.
