Questions. Care to answer in a meaningful manner?

Let's start this conversation off with Forum Descriptions. For Reference.
The Pub A place for laid-back discussion on any topic, come introduce yourself to the community, and join in some chilled-out conversation.
Off-Topic Discussion This forum contains content that many will find extremely offensive. Such material includes grotesque imagery, vocal racism, and generally disrespectful behavior.
And here's the questions- Do you believe that the original post automatically determines if a conversation can be started or not?
Do you believe that the quality of the posts after original post have something to do with the threads worthy or unworthiness?
Where do "I just wanted to post this and thought that someone else might find it funny/interesting and it's not grotesque, racist or disrespectful but it might not start a meaningful life changing conversation" posts go?
Note-this is not a thread for Moderator bashing. I am tired of reading these threads. It gets nothing accomplished anyway. I am looking for serious conversation. Please do not post here if you are just trying to be a post whore.

A lot of discussion CAN come from a simple subject and a picture. For instance:
Subj: Look at my new cat! Body: (Picture of a cat.)
Subj: I totalled my car! Body: (pic of totalled car)
Subj: This is tonight's dinner.. Body: (pic of food)
These are examples of what I believe to be posts that do not promote any kind of real discussion:
Subj: Wooohooo! Body: (pic of pot leaf)
Subj: This cow is addicted to cocaine Body: (pic of a cow with a white nose)
Subj: I'm soooooooo high Body: (feelsgoodman)
If a thread has a chance at turning into a discussion I'll give it that chance but a lot of this stuff is either OTD or Romper Room material. Remember, anonymity isn't a requirement of Romper Room.
I pose these questions to those who make the threads that get dumped for being pointless. What made you choose the Pub over these other forums? What made you post a thread with such little content in a forum where there is clearly ongoing legitimate discussion all over the main page? What makes it appropriate for the Pub as opposed to OTD or Romper Room?

Those are perfectly suited for the Pub, but a lot of times the OP doesn't make that clear that they're looking to entertain anyone. They just kind of throw it up here and treat the Pub like a virtual cork board, which it's not meant to be.

Thanks for pointing out the Romper Room. I didn't even know that existed.

I think I just tend to stay away from OTD because every time I've gone in there I saw something that my eyes immediately regretted.
Maybe people post some nonsense some times because of the other people that frequently post in The Pub? I mean, it seems that the same people kind of stay in their same forum. So maybe once a forum is chosen, someone will post whatever's on their mind there just because that's the one they usually post in?
I don't know. I'm new and I'm trying to get to the bottom of all the bickering I've been seeing lately.

I think to a large degree it is that but still it really sucks to hafta sift through so much shit to get to the good stuff in this forum... I guess there was a point where there was consistently cool stuff going on here. MAybe people are missing that?
and not for nothing but more times than not i've been reading quite a bit of nigger this faggot that on these boards hell even people laughing at pictures of starving kenyan babies in this damn forum. and those are precisely reasons i've steered clear of OTD. I think this place needs to clean up.. or i just need to start blocking people. i guess i'll just start blocking people.
BTW Lady tramp... i REALLY like your avatar pic. is that on your hands?

it is. On mine and a friend of mine. Altho it was kind of hard to draw because the ink kept floating off my hand!

I probably did miss all of the good conversation. Because since I've been on here it just seems like a lot of nonesense.
A lot of the posts in the pub are about Pot. I think those could be posted on The Growery or GrassCity or something. As this is the SHROOMery.
I understand, people smoke it. But seems like there are other places to start threads about it.
It's kind of like when you go to The Pub in real life. There's a lot of dumb people getting wasted, talking about how wasted they got on another day, etc. Not a lot of intelligent conversation.
Until you find that one corner of the room where all the people like you are. And then it's a happy place again.
Maybe The Pub should have a corner like that! haha

No, I actually think it is the other poster's preference for the original poster that determines whether they post or not. If everyone hates the OP nothing will become of the thread...of course there is the rare instance where someone unknown poasts something truely profound that sparks interest.
Do you believe that the quality of the posts after original post have something to do with the threads worthy or unworthiness?
Yes and no....of course youve got trolls and high hollies who know everything and everyone in between. A thread can become epic even when the original post isnt.
Where do "I just wanted to post this and thought that someone else might find it funny/interesting and it's not grotesque, racist or disrespectful but it might not start a meaningful life changing conversation" posts go?
Pub, OTD, wherever...of course OTD is more cliquey.

Im done post whoring for a bit...I had a long run at doing it but Im really putting an honest effort into not doing it anymore

I have seen the Pub take on an OTD lite feel in the past ~3 years
when I first came here in '03 I really liked the laid back atmosphere of the Shroomery, and that vibe really showed in the Pub.
Now it seems we are flooded with 14-16 year old mentally challenged kids.

Naw man, I fooked up and didn't buy tix for the second show. I was kicking myself all the way home too. How was it? I had so much fun the first night and met some of the kindest folks. It was truly a rapturous experience for me. Now I'm fest ready. lol Plan on catching springjam down at Zoe next month. It should be a good time.

That's a shame that you left, I actually got MIRACLED into that show. This guy comes out all smiling and hands me the ticket after only about 5 songs had plaid so I caught most of it and had the time of my life.
