My comp build specs
Intel Quad Core 9400 ATI Radeon 4850 4G RAM 1.5TB HD 2.66Ghz
all that for ~ $1000, and that was about a year ago, not really sure on the price for all the components now, but it is a rippin' system for a decent price.

Shroomism's list looks OK, but I would substitute the case and PSU for an Antec case that comes with a PSU. That'll save you probably $50 or so, and unlike most cases that comes with a PSU, Antec makes their own PSUs, and they're very good.

yeah that's true. Forgot about those combo deals, and antec does make top quality cases AND PSUs. You could probably do that with a mobo/cpu combo deal and save even more. Just make sure you don't gimp yourself on the motherboard if you want to upgrade in the future.

I just spent $800 on a laptop (C2D P8700M and Nvidia GTX 260M 1GBVRAM, with 6GB DDR2RAM) that will play crysis in high quality 2xAA 1440x900 without lag. Starts to get laggy at 4xAA and up though but still, that's freakin' sweet!
You could build something off Newegg.

That's a really great case for the money. That's the one I'm using for my next build, except the bigger model. Done a lot of research, that's a top quality case for that price range, perfect for what you are looking for, antec makes great stuff.

Yes you need a power supply, you could get the combo deal that comes with that case... 1200 watts.. MORE than enough even if you decide to pop a 2nd video card in the future. The only "fan" you should need to buy is a heatsink for the CPU

What on Earth qualifies this person to build a computer from parts?
Slightly cheaper, yes. More power, certainly.
TAKES SOME EXPERIENCE, AND THE WILLINGNESS TO FIX/TWEAK THINGS AD NAUSEUM? Yes.
Before the OP gets into a huge expensive debacle, just let him buy an off the shelf PC that'll simply run WoW.
Building PCs isn't for everyone. I was doing it back when it was needed, and not just a fad.

Can you please post exactly what i need to buy in terms of case, power supply, and fan?
ANd that hard drive you posted at the top of the page......how much memory does it store exactly? Im used to seeing things like 500gb hard drive, but that hard drive doesnt list any storage space at all

I feel like you are explaining card tricks to a dog. No offense to Herbal... what happens when he boots up and nothing happens?

It's not impossible, but you have to WANT to do it. It seems to me, what you really want to do is play WoW and not build a computer.
Also, you have an astounding lack of computer knowledge.

Honestly it is all I want to do. I guess im just gonna go with the costco PC because they have a two year warranty on it so if shit goes wrong I can take it back (at no additional charge).
Hope I dont have any troubles installing a graphics card in it

Do some more research!!
It's like buying a car, man... You gotta do some research and make the best choice. You are in no position to buy a parts car and build it. But, you still have to make an informed decision, including saving up whatever it takes and spending the money up front on solid equipment.
There is always a happy middle between a homebuilt monster and an e-machine. Find it, and buy it!
Then, enjoy WoW in moderation.

Honestly, you do not really seem to have a lot of knowledge. I'll break it down for you:
If you consider yourself reasonable hands-on/mechanically inclined, then building a computer is a piece of cake. You can follow a tutorial (it is EASY), and even watch videos.
If you look at an installation diagram and want to cry, buy an off-the-shelf computer and be done with it.

for wow you want the highest clock speed cpu that you can afford, like an e8600 ideally, for the best fps... you can really skimp out on the gpu, any 512mb budgety card, like a 9800gt should run you around $90 and will easily be able to max out your settings. get any budgety socket 775 motherboard ($75), 4gb of ddr2 800 ram will suffice ($75ish)

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?
