Turned into a bit of a long read though lol.Next time i think ill try and follow the forum guidelines and just update the top post.
Thanks for that Dean i'm happy with my first bulk as its taught me a bit of what not to do next time  and hopefull others can pick these tips up before embarking on a simular task

P.s the salt is holding back the green mould well.So worth trying id say.
I ate a stack last night to taste if they were different from brown rice or millet grown in flavour. The flavour seemed the same but they had a better texture and seemed to be more fleshy and less watery.Just an observation.

Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana and mushrooms in private for personal use.

Looks good!

A pasturization meathod that i find less smelly is in a cooler outdide using hot water like in the bulk neglect grow. You can also wrap the cooler with a blanket to hold in the heat if its cold out. Try to use the smallest cooler you can so you dont leach the nutrients out of the substrate.

Your pics dont work when i click on them. but i can see the small thumbnail pics.

With the bulk pasteurized straw/poo, you don't really have much fear of contamination for about two weeks.

I mixed two litres of spawn (on popcorn) into 5" (compressed) of straw in a rubbermaid tub, covered with a plastic sheet (with many small holes poked in it) that I tucked in around the substrate and compressed (the compression is important).  I had full colonization in 5 days.

Not sure what the cause of the fast colonization was... but I'm not complaining

Just saw my first mushroom today!
