casing layer question
    #1217419 - 01/14/03 09:15 AM (21 years, 2 months ago)

ive read that you can use vermiculite for a casing layer. couldnt you mix brown rice flour in with the vermiculite so the mushrooms have more 'food'? wouldnt you get more flushes if you mixed the two?

no, you'll get contams, as the casing will be uncolonised by what you want, but colonisable by anything else.

The casing is there just for moisture, not food. Verm holds water real well.
