MY first FF. I have got a PS3 (and I think the playback quality for blu-ray and CD's are fucking terrible when compared to a real BD player). Some of the instances in the game are terribly cheesy. I mean, LOL! But, it seems like typical Japanese animation from what I have experienced in the past. Reminds me a bit of DBZ. Graphics are amazing, and I am starting to get the hang of the battle system.

All in all its a beautiful game. I am about 10 hours into it now, although I do suck a bit, and am to the part where you can upgrade weapons and accessories, which is pretty rad. You don't get much in the way of gill, but then that would just make the game really easy. The paradigm system is rad, as well as the ability to use your aidolon (sp). The crystarium aspect is pretty awesome too. I pretty much like the game a lot. But, what do I know?

I probably need to approach the game with this attitude, of having never played a FF before.  But I have, and it just doesn't compare.  They should have named it "My first RPG," maybe then I would have enjoyed it more.

nothing, misos is obviously retarded.  9/10 people agree ps3's blu ray play does a better job than all but the highest end blu ray players on the market even now.  the playback and also upscaling qualities are pretty amazing thanks to the processing power fo the ps3.  also why the US army is trying to link a bunch of ps3s together to control satellites or some shit i read in an article a while back.

Obviously. Except maybe not. I put in a Shulman CD and it had some major distortions. Popped it into my BD player, and it sounded beautiful.

Popped in a BD, Transformers to be exact because the sound is supposed to be amazing, and the quality was less than impressive. Transferred it to my BD player, and wtf do you know, better, clearer, picture. MAYBE my PS3 is a little fucked up. But MY experience with the playback is not any good.

So, instead of dissing on me, why don't you try to think of other possibilities. I have nearly $7500 wrapped up in my home theater, and I hooked it up myself (Granted this isn't a lot compared to people who can afford the hobby. But, these will blow any Def. Techs and a lot of Paradigms out of the water for a fraction of the price). This is a better system than 95% of the people on this site have ever seen or heard. I don't think that someone who is "retarded" can do this.

My PS3 has shitty playback. That is that.

And there were other people around me when I listened to the Shulman album, and then transferred it, and they agreed that it sounded much better.

see, this is why people shouldn't build their own home theaters unless they really know what they are doing... not just think they know what they are doing because they hooked up 15" subs in the trunk of their car once.

so im guessing you either have a receiver that doesn't read linear pcm well, or you think you have a 7.1 surround system. in both cases, you should switch your audio output to bitstream, and if you are trying to rock true 7.1 surround i would suggest first finding what is called a THX optimizer and then go to your audio settings and change it to support 7.1.
but if you are using the optical out, then it only supports 5.1.

also, the ps3 does not convert up regular dvds (convert up to 1080 and such), it relies on your tv to do that.

Bro. Really? I'm not a fucking idiot. LOL. Let me give you a bit of a break down on what I have going.

42" Panasonic Viera, Axiom 5.1, (http://axiomaudio.com/epic80_500.html#, read reviews on this, and tell me this isn't fucking pro. Mine are all black. These speakers alone will literally rattle pictures off your wall, the sub... Its like having a transducer under your couch. Could YOU imagine paying $1300 for a sub???), Denon 3310CI (http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/4972.asp), APC H15, Cheap Panasonic BD Player, and Custom built PC (which I built) that I use as my media center. Bgears b-enspirer 7.1 audio card hooked up to the Denon via Optical set at 192 PCM. EVERYTHING is HD. Video card, TV, DVD Player, Denon. Everything. Everything, with the exception of the audio connection, is DVI/HDMI. (PC is connected via DVI-HDMI) Most of my electronic music files are VBR or FLAC, or ripped directly from the album in FLAC. The receiver upconverts everything to supposed HD. Which I don't buy, but I am not willing to drop $5k on a DVD player just yet. The receiver is also capable tof playing DOLBY True HD and DTS HD.

The speakers are bi amp-able, so I have 2 separate wires going to each of the 2 fronts, since 7.1 is a total waste of time and receiver power. The only reason why anyone needs 7.1 is if their speakers don't do a good job, and mine are incredible.

My house is NOT built for sound whatsoever. So unfortunately I lose a lot of sound quality in the walls.

Please do not tell me I don't know what I am talking about. And THX is hella over rated. 2 channel stereo is all you need when listening to music. If you can't use just your 2 front's for audio, then there's something wrong. Most audio is recorded in 2 channel stereo. Although some is recorded in 5.1. They do not record music in 7.1. I may be a noob, but I am a rather knowledgeable noob. I did months of research before buying my stereo. Maybe check out some of the HT forums and be learned a bit, if you don't already frequent them.

And your TV cannot up-convert anything. It receives signal and displays it in whatever resolution it is receiving through whichever cable the signal is being carried. I know what I am talking about. I know my shit better than the VAST majority of people, including some "HT specialists". If you see anything wrong, please, give your advice. LOL.

Let me correct myself here so I don't seem like such a dick. From what I know, TVs don't upscale, it s the DVD players job as well as the receivers. I prefer HD sounds over THX. Maybe you do, maybe you don't. The bottom line is, what is good quality to one guy, may not be to the next. Everyone in this hobby knows that HT is entirely subjective.

And as for the sub, most people don't know what a good sub is capable of, like myself before purchasing this system.

I would honestly like your opinion on what is "so wrong" with my post. Seriously. I will put aside my asshole competitive side, as this is a hobby of mine, and hearing other "enthusiasts" points of view is not only interesting, but sometimes helpful.

I thought this game was great. It was my first FF and basically first single player rpg (i've played mmos but thats all).

The story i thought was amazing and filled with feeling..
I loved Vanille..

To be honest thru out the game i rushed it just to see what was going to happen next in the story. The story pretty much grabbed me in as soon as hopes mom dies. which was within the 1st hour or so and all the way thru (50+ hours of story 10+ on missions so far)

I thought it was great as in story.. gameplay however i thought the end boss was WAY to easy..

i thought the chapter 11 old guy boss was the hardest of them all because my characters wernt leveled up but at the end it took maybe 1-2 tries, it was so easy...

the ending, ended so well

all in all story i give a 10 and gameplay i didnt really pay attention to cus i just wanted to know what happened next in the story

XIII was a lot of fun.  I played the shit out of it, got a platinum, was gonna start it again, but caught up playing borderlands online with my friend then red dead came out.  maybe next month I'll replay it.  I still have been wanting to replay FFVI I have for psx for months and havent touched it.  so maybe that'll be next.
